Duties

As a Supervisory Electrical Engineer, some of your typical work assignments may include:

* Utilize comprehensive knowledge and understanding of power systems and commission regulations, policy and precedence to guide staff in analyzing Bulk Power System events.
* Lead staff and carries out responsibilities in a manner that exemplifies and promotes: communication, setting direction, implementation and achievement, fostering and promoting teamwork, and building trust and commitment.
* Provide engineering analysis and operational data to support other divisions and offices.
* Prepare research, reports, recommendations, orders, and other decisions for Commission consideration. Assists the Division in preparing responses to Congress, testimony, speeches, etc., for Commission officials.
* Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with other Commission offices, external agencies and other organizations. Work with and support the team responsible for development of input to Commission Orders to ensure the protection of bulk power system reliability.

Qualifications

In addition to the education required for this position, you must have one full year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-14 level. Specialized experience is defined as: Significant responsibility and experience in examining complex engineering, system, and operational issues of the bulk power system, including experience in policy development to promote the efficient and reliable operation of the bulk power system.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills, and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including any volunteer experience.
