Job Description

The Job

The Assistant E-Commerce Merchant is responsible for all aspects of support for an online product category, including but not limited to category review support, promotional planning and execution, product content, retailer communication and credits, SKU on-boarding and maintenance and special projects as assigned. The position is designed as a support role, as well as development step in all aspects of the E-Commerce department to prepare a candidate for full category responsibility as an E-Commerce Merchant in 2 – 3 years.

What you’ll do

Merchandising Online Assortment on

  • Support Sr. E-Commerce merchant in all phases of category and product online merchandising
  • Kibo Admin tool- fundamental site merchandising practices including the creation of categories, discounts, product ranking rules
  • New Item and Promo activation and maintenance
  • Responsible for edits throughout creative process including site, email and marketing creative
  • Prepare category analytics and identify opportunities to drive sales online
  • Responsible for product content- work with vendor and PCM team for goal of A++ content
  • Analyze the ecommerce market to develop understandings of market trends and competitors’ strengths, weaknesses and strategies

Promotional Planning Support

  • Assist in solicitation of monthly promotional items from vendors and Merchants
  • Support in organizing and securing all promo offers- pricing, offer, credits
  • Prepare of Monthly Promo Marketing file
  • Promo creation in Kibo and/or Event Planner

Retailer Communication

  • Support with daily retailer customer service
  • Assist with communication via ACENET to relay monthly online promos and credits
  • Assist with Merch CARE to prep Ace Care Center for calls and e-mails related to respective category

Inventory/Supply Chain Support

  • Assist in inventory planning for promotional items
  • Support Clearance and Closeout opportunities

Special projects

  • Support department and cross-functional projects as assigned by Manager

What you need to succeed

Assistant E-Commerce Merchant Competencies

  • Product passion – Natural and fanatical curiosity around product and the online marketplace, demonstrated and put into action. 
  • Results-oriented – Ability to drive results to and above plan with full accountability, proactively shifting efforts as trends and business variables change
  • Negotiation skills – Solid negotiation skills with proven results leveraging company scale, business drivers and strategies
  • Planning skills – Ability to interpret company and team goals, and assemble a plan to contribute to overall strategy and sales success.
  • Collaboration—Cross functional cooperation throughout the entire Merchandising team and vendors, as well as the various Marketing channels

Experience and Technical Requirements

  • 2+ years of ecommerce, marketing, merchandising experience
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze/interpret data, proactively make recommendations and successfully implement plans
  • Demonstrate strong decision making skills
  • Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills required
  • Highly creative, flexible and adaptable with good follow-through
  • Proven ability to multi-task projects and meet deadlines
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills 
  • Strong problem solving skills required
  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, Power Point,
