Kadiak, LLC, a Koniag Government Services company, is seeking a Junior Budget Analyst with an active Secret Clearance to support Kadiak and our government customer in Alexandria, VA.

The Junior Budget Analyst will primarily support budget formulation and allocation activities, ensuring effective budget execution and financial planning aligned with organizational goals.
This role involves assisting in the development and management of spend plans, performing financial analysis, and collaborating with senior leadership to help ensure efficient resource allocation across various components.
Experience with the Defense Agency Initiative (DAI) is required to manage budget processes and financial documentation.
Essential Functions, Responsibilities & Duties:
• Assist in the development, formulation, and submission of annual budgets, ensuring alignment with financial policies and organizational priorities.
• Support the allocation and tracking of budget authority, ensuring accurate execution of financial resources across various components.
• Collaborating with component leads to gather, consolidate, and reconcile spend plans, ensuring timely processing of budget adjustments.
• Provide analysis and support for funding requests, unfunded requirements, and prior-year carryover to aid decision-making and financial planning efforts.
• Perform regular financial duties such as budget reconciliations, variance analysis, and preparation of financial projections to ensure fiscal accountability.
• Assist in the preparation and presentation of financial reports, including budget execution status, funding availability, and spending forecasts for senior leadership.
• Support quarterly and year-end financial reporting, including obligation and expenditure analysis.
• Analyze financial policies, directives, and regulatory changes to assess their impact on budget formulation and execution.
• Assist in the development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and guidelines to improve budget processes and ensure compliance with regulations.
• Utilize the Defense Agency Initiative (DAI) system to manage budget formulation, allocation, and execution processes, ensuring all transactions and documentation are processed accurately.
• Provide support and guidance to team members on DAI processes, helping manage budget tracking and reporting.
Work Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
• Bachelor's degree required.
• Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a business-related discipline strongly preferred.
• Certified Defense Financial Manager - Preferred, not required.
• DoD Financial Management Certification Level 2 - Preferred, not required.
• Experience as a business analyst/project analyst/training coordinator for an OSD level organization.
At a minimum the candidate is required to possess the qualities and skills commensurate with said experiences.
• Experience with the Defense Agency Initiative (DAI) is required.
• Ability to uphold a strict level of discretion and confidentiality.
• Candidates must be a US Citizen with a final Secret Level Clearance, per Government requirements.
• At least 3 years of experience in DoD Financial Management.
• Experience with Hyperion is strongly preferred.
• Excellent communication, customer service and organizational skills.
• Must be fully proficient in MS Office applications, including Outlook, Word and Excel.
• The individual must have the ability to work independently and develop excellent client relationships to accomplish technical tasks.
Working Environment & Conditions This job operates in a professional office environment and has a noise level of mostly low to moderate.
This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
This position is primarily indoors, consistent with a standard office position and has a noise level of mostly low to moderate.
The incumbent is required to stand, walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear.
The workload may require the incumbent to sit for extended periods of time.
The incumbent must be able to read, do simple math calculations and withstand moderate amounts of stress.
The incumbent must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 lbs.
Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
