Architectural Designer

DesignForce , MD (On Site) Full-Time

Position Summary:

Do you have a passion for creating innovative design solutions to create thoughtful and community-serving buildings? Our client is a nationally-recognized and awarded architectural firm seeking out an impact-driven Project Architect to join their growing team of dedicated designers. Since their inception, they have built a rich legacy of spaces for essential and mission-driven community functions including fire stations, libraries, public safety facilities, schools, and community centers. As a Project Architect, you will find opportunities for continued growth while collaborating with a close-knit team to develop conceptual and technical architectural solutions within our community facilities studio.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Work directly alongside project managers through all phases of design from concept to construction documents, primarily using Revit as well as other presentation software.
  • Engage and communicate with clients to develop programs, designs, and technical solutions.
  • Coordinate with and mentor in-house production staff, specification writers, BIM modelers, and designers, as well as sub-consultants.
  • Assist the project manager in the development of project plans, schedules, and budgets.
  • Perform building and code research and studies to ensure code compliance.
  • Research architectural products, systems, equipment, and assemblies for implementation, design coordination, and specification development.
  • Coordinate with and assist in-house construction administration staff during the construction phase of projects.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent) in Architecture.
  • Professional Licensure required; NCARB Certification a plus.
  • 5-10 years of related experience in architectural design and construction documentation.
  • Proficiency in Revit.
  • Deep interest in community-based architecture (i.e., schools, libraries, community centers, etc.).
  • Enthusiasm for collaboration and open communication.
  • Familiarity with building codes and construction standards for public facilities.
  • Ability to conceptualize, design, and document thoughtful and efficient solutions.
