Shift: Shift 2
Status: Full Time FTE: 1.000000
Bargaining Unit: ACE Associates
Exempt from Overtime: Exempt: No
Work Schedule: Evenings with Weekend and Holiday Rotation
Hours: 3:30pm to 11:30pm
Summary:
Under the supervision of the Emergency Department Director or designee, theEmergency Department Unit Secretary is responsible for performing general receptionist and clerical duties in the Emergency Department. Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance programs, safety, environmental and infection control standards. Maintains confidentiality of all hospital/staff information.
Responsibilities:
EDUCATION
* High School or equivalent required
* Cardiac Dsyrhythmia course must be passed within six (6) months of job offer
* Medical terminology course is desirable
* Basic typing course preferred
EXPERIENCE
* Six (6) months to one (1) year of secretarial, clerical or patient registration and/or business required
* Computer entry experience preferred (introduction computer courses, windows applications) preferred
KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY
* Good human relations and oral/written communication skills
* Answer telephones
* Compile statistics
* Develop office procedures
* Establish filing systems
* Input data into computer programs
* Maintain logs
* Maintain filing systems
* Maintain patient charts
* Schedule appointments
* Clinical computer information systems
* Fax
* Photocopier
* Stamper
* Typewriter
WORKING CONDITIONS
* Contact with patients under a wide variety of circumstances
* Exposed to: housekeeping cleaning agents/chemicals; unpleasant elements (accidents, injuries and illness)
* Increased pressure due to multiple calls and inquiries
* May be exposed: to infections and contagious diseases; toxic chemicals (i.e. photocopier)
* Subject to: varying and unpredictable situations; many interruptions
VACCINE REQUIREMENTS
* Effective January 1st 2022, you must be fully vaccinated with an FDA COVID-19 vaccination and provide proof of your vaccination status as part of your new employee pre-boarding. Exceptions to the COVID-19 vaccination requirement may be granted for medical reasons.
