The Food Systems Program Manager for Healthy Food Research works with UAMS Office of [ Link removed ] - Click here to apply to Food Systems Program Manager (OCHR) staff and community partners to understand the food system infrastructure necessary to support and enhance Food Research  work. Specific responsibilities include food system assessments, launching priority food system research projects, and sustaining existing programs and partnerships. Some travel required (up to 25%).

Responsibilities

FOOD PROJECT DEVELOPMENT AND IMPLEMENTATION:

  • Manages community relationships and project implementation for grant funded research projects
  • Prioritizes and organizes work assignments and ensures research projects are completed on time and within scope of work
  • Plans and leads group and individual research project meetings, identifies research project milestones and timelines, evaluates and recommends process workflow, plans, coordinates, tests, implements, trains, and manages research projects
  • Applies project management tools and techniques, and appropriates regular communications with all levels of the UAMS organization; responsible for the technical and functional design of systems, and scheduling and conducting research project-related meetings
  • Documents best practices/case studies of successful models nationally

 DIRECT ASSISTANCE:

  • Collaborates with partners to develop a support network of community partners
  • Provides resources and guidance to local communities (i.e. food policy councils, community development agencies) to conduct food assessments and identify priority food projects
  • Collaborates with external partners (I.e. universities, Cooperative Extension, Dept. of Ag, etc.) to develop and/or disseminate resources on best practices (access, scale-up/expansion, buyer requirements, market outlets, etc.)
  • Assists partners in healthy food policy development
  • Builds resources for outreach assistance to appropriate advisors/service providers

 FOOD SYSTEM ASSESSMENT:

  • Leads participation in food resesarch, including 1) documenting current food system conditions and identifying opportunities and barriers, 2) cataloging available/recommended primary and secondary data sources
  • Collaborates on food system assessments and economic analyses to integrate food system goals with long-term strategic plans

 ADMINSTRATION AND OUTREACH:

  • Assists with research project monitoring to ensure compliance, progress toward objectives and expected results, and work plan adherence
  • Identifies and pursues opportunities to expand reach and to ensure satisfaction among partners
  • Schedules meetings and participates in technical discussions and meetings pertinent to department/project needs

May perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Four (4) years of experience in program/project management or related field
  • Valid driver's license
  • Reliable transportation with valid and current automobile liability insurance and the willingness to use for work-related travel (up to 25%)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree
