Banquet Coordinator

Salamander Washington, DC Washington, DC (Onsite) Full-Time
POSITION OBJECTIVE

Ability to organize and continuously develop efficient process and procedures for the department. Performing basic managerial duties such as scheduling, payroll, etc. Maintain complete knowledge of Salamander DC standards as well as departmental standards. The Banquet Coordinator should have full understanding of all banquet menus and beverages specified by the group. Being flexible and ability to quickly respond to the needs of others.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS


    -Organize and identify better, efficient ways of operation.
    -Responsible for training staff and maintaining high level of performance according to Hotel standards.
    -Should be ready to assist at any time to ensure optimum service to our guests.
    -Knowledgeable of daily features and activities within the Hotel.
    -Responsible for maintaining a clean and safe working environment at all times.
    -Ability to follow directions from the Director of Banquets and Banquet Manager.
    -Monitoring operations in absence of the Banquet Manager.
    -Ability to focus on details and must be accurate in the work performed.
    -Being flexible and ability to quickly respond to the needs of others


EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE


    -High school Diploma
    -Degree from College or University preferred.
    -Previous experience working in events or hospitality preferred.


REQUIREMENTS


    -Must be able to work a flexible schedule based on operational needs, including weekends and holidays.
    -Must be able to speak, read, write and understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace.
    -Must be able to read and write to facilitate the communication process.
    -Requires good communication skills, both verbal and written.
    -Must possess basic computational ability.
    -Must possess basic computer skills.


WORK ENVIRONMENT


    -
    -Must be able to work effectively in a hospitality environment, communicate with others, effectively deal with customers and accept feedback from supervisors.
    -Must be able to change activity frequently and cope with interruptions..
    -Must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 10 lbs, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 lbs, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
    -Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening and hearing ability and visual acuity.
    -Talking and hearing occur continuously in the process of communicating with guests, supervisors and subordinates.
    -Vision occurs continuously with the most common visual functions being those of near vision and depth perception.
    -Requires manual dexterity to use and operate all necessary equipment.
    -Must have finger dexterity to be able to operate office equipment such as computers, printers, multi-line touch tone phone, filing cabinets, photocopiers other office equipment as needed.
