You will succeed in this Accounting Manager position with a burgeoning, innovative company if you can take charge of daily operations, such as preparing and/or reviewing appropriate ledger entries and reconciliations, maintaining the general ledger system, preparing monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements, assisting with regulatory reporting as applicable, and related duties. Located in the Providence, Rhode Island area, this Accounting Manager position would be on a full-time basis. Apply today with Robert Half Finance! Your responsibilities - Assist in the implementation of NetSuite Financials, which includes designing systems and processes, migrating data, testing, training, and administrating - Work closely with FP A and accounting management to create relevant and timely reports on financial data analytics like the monthly flash report, key financial metrics, and actual spend against budgets/outlook - Regular review and analysis of balance sheet and income statement accounts owned by Senior Accountant - Possessing a thorough knowledge of enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems is valuable - Assist in the preparation of GAAP financial statements, including document preparation, data analysis, integrity validation, and reconciliation processes - Assemble various technical accounting policies, procedures, and analyses - Encourage and manage the full accounting team performance so that close deadlines are met -Researches tax changes, pays taxes, files tax returns, posts tax adjustments, and amends returns to adhere to government regulations -Reconciles bank accounts and researches and resolves direct deposit issues to verify that direct deposits for employees are properly credited and confirm that the university accounts are accurately charged -Reconciles, prints, and distributes W-2 forms for employees, and submits reports to federal and state governments, as required -Oversees the maintenance and reconciliation of payroll general ledger accounts, and calculates accrual entries for the academic and fiscal year end -Maintains workers' compensation rates for various states, and oversees the workers' compensation premium audit -Works with the payroll software provider to maintain tax-related aspects of the software with up-to-date tax information to and comply with tax regulations -Monitors the taxability of certain benefits (e.g. personal use of a company car, moving reimbursements, doctoral support) to adhere to government regulations and proper taxation -Processes payroll in compliance with university policies, procedures and applicable payroll regulations -Supervises and develops the department staff, facilitating detail oriented opportunities to improve individual capability and managing performance against job accountabilities, department goals and established university, campus and department policies and procedures -Performs other duties as assigned

Job Requirements

- 2+ years of recent relevant Payroll / Accounting / Management - Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or equivalent degree and/or experience - Critical thinking, problem solving, ability to work independently - 10 Key Accounting experience preferred - Adeptness in account reconciliation - Demonstrated knowledge of taxes - Strong familiarity with account management - Foundational knowledge in benefits payroll - Comprehensive knowledge of payroll - General familiarity with payroll taxes - Accruals experience highly desired - Working knowledge of enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems is valuable - Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a customer service mindset - CPA/MBA preferred - Solid technical skills
