Job Description

Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner:

Picture this for a moment—working as a psychiatric nurse practitioner in an environment laden with professional opportunities. Where paid vacation time is extremely generous. Where you get 15 paid agency holidays. Where you have sick time so you don’t have to choose between vacation and going to the doctor. Where health/dental/vision plans are available and subsidized up to 80%. Where there are various operational trainings for clinicians. Where you get access to 403(b) retirement benefits and a pension.

These imaginings are reality at The Jewish Board and just the tip of the iceberg for you, when you’re working in one of our programs.

The Jewish Board delivers innovative, best-in-class mental and behavioral health services to over 45,000 New Yorkers each year.  We are unique in serving everyone from infants and their families, to children, teens, and adults. That adds up to countless opportunities to use your skills, training, and compassion to make a difference in the lives of others.

We’re always looking for talented people of all cultures, religions, races, and gender expressions – so that our staff is a direct reflection of the people we serve.

In 2016, The Jewish Board won the annual Nonprofit Excellence Awards, sponsored by the New York Community Trust. The award honors organizations that exemplify innovative nonprofit management practices across eight rigorously evaluated areas of management excellence. The Jewish Board is one of New York’s best-managed nonprofits.

This independent endorsement means that when you come to work at The Jewish Board, you know you’re coming to work at a well-managed, financially stable organization that’s been helping New Yorkers reach their potential for over 140 years.

Goldsmith & Mann Center provides supervised living units and a program of therapeutic and educational services and emphasizes family interaction.

As a psychiatric nurse practitioner, you would be responsible for providing psychiatric services to clients. This includes:

  • Providing medication management for clients. Medication provision includes direct delivery of injectable.

  • Providing counseling, therapy, psycho-education and consultation about behavioral health and other care.

  • Monitoring client progress, and oversee discharges and aftercare planning.

  • Participate in case reviews, and practice improvement projects.

To qualify, you will need:

  • A Nurse Practitioner degree with specialized training or experience in psychiatry.

  • A current license to practice as a nurse practitioner in NYS.

  • A current DEA registration for prescribing controlled substances.

  • ANCC certification/pending application.
