Northrop Grumman Space Systems designs, builds and delivers space, defense and aviation-related systems to customers around the world. Our main products include launch vehicles and related propulsion systems; missile products, subsystems and defense electronics; precision weapons, armament systems and ammunition; satellites and associated space components and services; and advanced aerospace structures.
Northrop Grumman Space System Sector is looking for a Sr. Principal Engineering Technician to join the Mechanical Engineering team within Launch Vehicles at the Chandler, AZ facility.
Essential Functions:
* Provide technical support the mechanical engineering department by working with fellow technicians and engineers to develop, procure, build, test, and document testing of hardware for the Launch Vehicles Division
* Proven strong mechanical aptitude to ensure the highest overall job quality
* Utilize strong oral and written communication skills to work closely with other technicians and engineers
* Gather, maintain, format, and report technical data
* Assist with the design of test setups and should be able to respond quickly under dynamically changing scenarios
Basic Qualifications:
* High School diploma or equivalent and 6 years additional education and/or related experience
* Ability to perform hands-on work ranging from small detailed work to large heavy objects
* Ability to lift 50 lbs
* Ability to balance technical, schedule, cost, and resources in order to meet overall company objectives
* Basic computer knowledge, working with MS Office product line
* Intermediate level knowledge of Microsoft Excel (data management, plotting, equations, pivot tables, etc.)
* US citizenship required
Preferred Qualifications:
* Active DoD Secret security clearance, or higher
* Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Costpoint, and MES is a plus
* Knowledge of cost account management (CAM) and earned value management systems (EVMS)
* Positive attitude - vocal contributor - team player
* Technical writing experience (assembly or test procedures, safety documents, etc.)
* Good mechanical aptitude, problem solver
Salary Range: $63,200.00 - $105,400.00
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
