Technical Service Representative, Powder Coatings

Our Powder Coatings Business Unit is the largest global manufacturer of powder coatings and a world leader in powder coatings technology. Interpon® is our Powder Coating's business' global brand, with a wide manufacturing base. Our product and technology development capabilities are strong, and we possess manufacturing expertise in the areas of cost and speed. Powder Coatings are solvent-free paints applied to metal and other conductive surfaces. They are applied using a spray gun or fluidized bed dipping, and baked in an oven, where the powder melts and then sets on the substrate, providing an even finish. Our powder coatings can be used in a wide variety of applications, from window frames, automotive components and pipes, to radiators, fences, metal furniture, and even wood, glass and plastic. They are available in a huge variety of colors, textures and finishes – including high gloss, matte, metallic, anodized and chrome effects. They contain no VOCs, and overspray can be reclaimed, making them one of the most sustainable coating options available on the market.
Key responsibilities is to provide technical service as directed by the Technical Service Manager in such cases as:
- Line Audits at major targets and customers
Plant start-ups with Interpon Powder Coatings
Cost Reduction Programs
Inventory and up-keep of technical service equipment
Accurate record keeping of all technical activities
Major trouble shooting at assigned targets and customers
Tasks assigned by the Technical Service Manager
Promotes the quality system through adhering to the elements of and being familiar with the philosophy, quality statement, quality manual, and procedures.
Attend and participate in Powder Plant Programs/Committees/Training as required, such as Department Safety, Plant Safety, Behavioral Safety, Housekeeping Audit Teams, ISO, Life Saving Rules or any other safety programs.
Participate in the Powder Safety Journey. Adhere to the Golden Principle which is Simply to intervene to stop work if conditions or behavior are unsafe.
Promotes health, safety and environmental regulations by ensuring that standards, policies, and procedures are adhered to in compliance with corporate, federal, state, and local requirements.
Performs other duties as required for the success of Akzo Nobel Coatings Inc.
- College Degree and / or equivalent technical experience;
Advanced people skills;
Excellent communication skills: written and oral;
Strong technical background in equipment and plant operations, preferably in powder and/or liquid coatings;
Six Sigma certification or equivalent experience preferred.
