Logistics Material Handler

Sanofi Framingham, MA Full-Time

As part of the Sanofi Biologics Development organization in Framingham, the Drug Substance Manufacturing Biologics (DSMB) is responsible to support manufacturing of cutting-edge biologic drug substance material to support clinical candidate programs. The DSMB group operates in clean-room production suites under cGMP conditions to produce protein drug substance suitable for use in First in Human and later stage clinical trials. The group is responsible for transferring in and implementing the cell culture/production, purification, and formulation bioprocesses for early stage biotherapeutic clinical product candidates. The DSMB group works closely with the Upstream and Downstream Process Development groups to understand each of the products that come through the area. DSMB also interacts closely with the Quality Assurance (QA), Bioprocess Engineering, Validation, and other groups to ensure cGMPs and manufacturing schedules are maintained.

DSMB Logistics is a GMP compliant service operation that is responsible for the safe and secure, Receipt, Storage, Shipping and Transport of Sanofi materials and products. Logistics is also responsible for supply chain security compliance, hazardous materials, import/export, inventory management & control, warehouse operations and other value-added logistics.

The Logistics Material Handler is the subject matter expert (SME) within their assigned functional area of the warehouse. This position as a role model in the compliant day-to-day operation of the warehouse. This role is responsible for raw material and non-stock receipts, finished goods distribution and the coordination of material movement between warehouse and production areas. Material handlers compliantly execute material movement and inventory control functions in the warehouse. Additionally, material handlers execute the appropriate inventory transaction for each material movement.

  • Pick, pack, and shipment preparation according to specific SOPs.
  • Prepare validated active and passive shipping containers utilizing dry ice, gel bricks, coolers, and other cold chain technologies.
  • Store, transfer and distribute material according to specific material requirements.
  • Complete complex shipments and associated documentation / transportation paperwork.
  • Operate all manual and automated material handling equipment to transport controlled and indirect materials within a GMP warehouse environment.
  • Proactively identify and report safety and compliance concerns.
  • Load and unload trucks in a safe manner compliant with company, local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Verify count and conditions of material.
  • Prepare Hazmat shipping documents.
  • Unpack and check goods received against purchase orders or invoices, maintains records of received goods.
  • Ensure inventory accuracy by performing timely, accurate, and appropriate system transactions to match every physical material movement.
  • Physically receive material from suppliers and other Sanofi sites, parcel carriers, couriers, LTL trucks.
  • Checks receipts against BOL for accuracy noting any damage or discrepancies, ability to notify appropriate management personnel.
  • Load carts, pallets and trucks for product movement.
  • Conduct cycle count procedures and support inventory control functions.
  • Operate systems and equipment in strict accordance with current GMPs, SOPs, and safety guidelines.
  • Assist in the training of new employees.
  • Acts as a subject matter expert in assigned functional area.
  • Troubleshoots problem transactions and researches inventory discrepancies.

  • High school diploma/GED with a minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience or an Associate Degree with 1 year of relevant work experience or a Bachelor's Degree.
  • Detailed oriented with good organizational skills.
  • Good written and interpersonal skills.
  • Understanding of GxP and how it applies to specific responsibilities.
  • Experience forecasting, ordering, maintaining stocks.
  • Must have permanent US work authorization
