The Substance Abuse Counselor provides counseling and support to individuals and families struggling with substance abuse and/or addiction. This may include confidential individual, family or group counseling educating about the causes and effects of addictions.
The Substance Abuse Counselor will be familiar with other services and resources in the community and work closely to provide information and support when required.
Maintain strict confidentiality guidelines regarding all clients, conversations and referrals
Provide community education and support, as requested
Access and collect relevant resources for clients
Assist individuals to identify their need for treatment
Assist clients to meet all requirements of treatment
Effective treatment planning and documenting services rendered within 24 hours
Ensure ongoing contact with agencies including the Primary Care Providers, Addiction and Psych med issuing Doctors, Mental Health Agencies, other collaborative agencies and Referral Sources
Must have sincere respect and compassion for the mission of substance abuse treatment and recovery.
Must be able to connect with clients.
Ability to engage clients and equip them with tools to be successful in recovery.
Masters Degree in Social Work, Counseling, or other relevant field.
Hold current certification and/or licensure in Addictions, Social Work, or Substance Abuse Counseling.
