Commercial P&C Insurance Producer - Surety

Overview:
Focuses on needs analysis followed by production goals and direct selling of Surety insurance to new and existing clients. Focuses on originating new client relationships and/or on expanding and retaining existing relationships.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Lead consulting efforts with client to identify needs; work with Account Executive to negotiate opportunities with product partners and identify the best deal for the client.
  • Work to prospect opportunities to sell surety products and services to current and potential clients in the marketplace. May focus sales on a specific business line and/or client segment.
  • Establish new relationships with key stakeholders to partner on new business opportunities to sell surety products/services.
  • Build and maintain internal Bank referral sources for development of new business; identify opportunities for additional business.
  • May research policies from insurers; conduct peer review of deals, if appropriate.
  • Maintain expertise of new products and trends in the insurance market.
  • Serve as primary referral source for Commercial Relationship Managers for client P&C needs.
  • Understand and adhere to the Company's risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the Company's Risk Appetite. Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.
  • Promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the M&T Bank brand.
  • Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.
  • Complete other related duties as assigned.


Scope of Responsibilities:
This position works independently. The position may provide coaching to less experienced Producers that are not yet validated.

Education and Experience Required:
Combined minimum of 6 years' higher education and/or work experience, including a minimum of 2 years' sales experience

Education and Experience Preferred:
Bachelor's degree

Proven insurance sales or account management experience

P&C Broker's License

CPCU designation
