POSITION: Director, Employee and Labor Relations
LOCATION: Lumberton NC 28358 (just outside Fayetteville)
SALARY: 120-130K + Bonus + Pension

Manages the Plant Human Resources department for the organization by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors. Areas of responsibility include: Employee Relations; Labor Relations; Training; Benefits; and Medical Department.
- To coach, guide, and direct the Human Resources organization to work as a business partner with Operations Team.
- Accountable for recruitment of and retention of top talent in the professional and production ranks in an expeditious and cost effective manner.
- Develops a strategy for site labor relations activities in the application of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
- Analyzes collective bargaining agreement and develops interpretation of intent, spirit, and terms of contract to counsel management on the application of labor relations policies and practices, and disciplinary procedures.
- Represents management and meets with shop stewards and supervisors to investigate and resolve grievances.
- Verifies adherence to terms of labor contract by monitoring day-to-day implementation of policies concerning wages, hours, and working conditions.
- Represents management in labor contract negotiations or serves as resource to negotiators by providing information on provisions of current contract and significance of proposed changes. Provides reference documents and statistical data concerning labor legislation, labor market conditions, union and management practices, wage, and salary surveys and employee benefit programs.
- Provides management guidance on policies, procedures, and legal issues that include, FMLA, ADA, and EEOC regulations.
- Provides management guidance and direction on performance management, development planning, and succession planning.
- Plans and directs implementation and administration of benefits programs. Notifiesemployees, management, and union officials of changes to the benefit programs.
- Directs preparation and distribution of written and verbal information to inform employees of benefits programs such as insurance plans, pension plans, paid time off, bonus plans, and special employer sponsored activities.
- Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the Human Resources Department. Also directly supervises three non-supervisory employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

- Bachelor in Human Resources, Labor Relations, or Management; with at least 7-10 years of similar experience. SHRM certified member and MBA preferred.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, employees, and the general public.
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts.
- Must be proficient in job analysis/evaluation, and FLSA.
- Strong computer skills (Word and Excel preferred)
- Healthcare knowledge preferred.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
