Inventory Supervisor

As a key member of the operations organization, the Inventory Supervisor is responsible for warehouse transfers, and maintaining control of all inventory on-site across multiple facilities and shifts in a manner that ensures adherence to customer requirements. This role will also contribute to both strategic and tactical initiatives to support the needs of the operation.

Essential Functions of the Role

Duties and Responsibilities

"Essential functions" are primarily job duties that incumbents must be able to perform unassisted or with some reasonable accommodation made by the employer. Other duties may be assigned to meet business needs.

  • Develop and maintain a cycle count program to ensure accurate inventory is maintained throughout the year.
  • Work with Receiving and Put Away Supervisors to analyze existing receiving and put away processes and propose improvements and new methods to control costs and enhance customer satisfaction.
  • Oversee product moves (inter-warehouse and warehouse to warehouse transfers) to ensure product is being stored adequately and efficiently according to current customer demand.
  • Communicate with other departments to ensure products are available when and where needed to satisfy customer requirements.
  • Participate in longer range volume planning and strategy development
  • Direct the activities of their team members to ensure coverage across shifts and complexity
  • Document and maintain all inventory procedures
  • Lead team in a manner that promotes individual development of each member
  • Develop and maintain a culture of continuous improvement through the practice of Lean principles
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of warehouse strategies, processes, and schematics that accounts for product flow, equipment, product handling, and information systems.
  • Pursues personal professional development for self and team through study, classes, peers, customers, vendors, and trade shows.
  • Leads through coaching and counseling employees under their supervision.
  • Be able to "grow" into manager role as business needs
Qualifications

Core Competencies

Skills, Talents, Personal Attributes and Experience
  • Must have a associate (2-year degree) from an accredited university or equivalent experience. Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Must have approximately eight to ten years on the job experience necessary in order to gain an understanding of departmental policies and procedures and effectively perform with minimal supervision.
  • Interpersonal skills necessary, including good grammar, voice and diction, in order to communicate by mail, email and telephone to effectively assist a diverse group of customers, dealers, vendors and internal customers.
  • High level of computer related skills.
  • Attention to details and policy execution.
  • Positive, enthusiastic attitude.
  • Ability to remain calm and composed under pressure.
  • Confers with other departments to expedite or trace missing or delayed shipments.
  • Provide timely feedback to the Company regarding process failures or employee concerns.
  • Must possess basic skills and understanding of business and math computations.
  • Work may require irregular hours, and occasionally requires more than 40 hours per week to perform the essential duties of the position.

Individuals must be able to stand and walk for long periods of time. Requires walking primarily on a level surface for extended periods of time throughout the day. Reaching above shoulder heights, below the waist or lifting as required to pull/pack or store materials throughout the work day. Proper lifting techniques required. May include lifting up to 50 pounds.

Working Conditions

Physical environment that is subject to temperature extremes, movement of mobile and fixed equipment, and other conditions associated with a warehouse operation.
