Position Overview

The Production Control Supervisor will be responsible for developing continual product and process improvement techniques in the area of raw material refining, manufacturing and packaging for the products specific to the Gas Utility, Gas & Water Distribution, Propane and Plumbing Distribution.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supervise and develop direct supporting staff.
  • Communicate with other departmental managers to understand all necessary aspect of operational development.
  • Conduct performance reviews and disciplinary action (when needed) following company policy.
  • Recommend changes to manufacturing processes and tooling
  • Coordinate and maintain inventory transactions following acceptable company policies.
  • Coordinate specific task training of employees pursuant to policy in order to maintain compliance to ISO 9001.
  • Maintain acceptable safety, quality and productivity levels throughout the facility.
  • Provide leadership to support manufacturing initiatives and company core values.
  • Lead the manufacturing team to assure that the needs of internal and external customers are met.
  • Responsible for continuous improvement within the manufacturing department (safety, quality, on-time delivery, productivity and training).
  • Provide leadership to support manufacturing initiatives and company core values.
  • Support other Company initiatives, including best practice implementation, while striving to maintain and improve Business Metrics.
  • Inspect machines and equipment to ensure specific operational performance and optimum utilization.
  • Ensures compliance of all OSHA standards in the workplace.
  • Resolve employee conflicts and work with Human Resources and other Management to initiate appropriate action. 
  • Coach, lead and develop subordinates.
  • Monitor performance against performance goals to ensure progress is being made and corrective action, if necessary, is taken.
  • Help to build an organizational culture in which passion for continuous improvement is innate.
  • Carries out management responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
  • Facilitate a work environment that supports a safe and healthy culture.

Skills and Experience

  • Must have a solid understanding and demonstrated implementation of Lean Principles: Identification of Waste and its subsequent elimination, Pull Systems, KanBan and Replenishment Systems, TPM, 5S/Workplace Organization, Visual Management, SMED, Standard Work, Flow Concepts and Level Load scheduling.
  • 5 years of production supervisory experience with exposure to metal forming, machining, tool making and/or equivalent disciplines.
  • Proven track record of implementing and sustaining change in a manufacturing/machining environment.
  • Exceptional communication skills.
  • BS in Manufacturing Technology or equivalent working experience.
  • Must be able to demonstrate high level of performance in current and previous positions as well as demonstrated initiative and desire to drive change and is motivated to exceed expectations.
  • Lifting up to 30 pounds.
  • Occasionally stoop, kneel, crouch, or bend.
  • Work at heights of up to 30 feet above the ground.
  • Work around electricity.
  • Lift, pull, push and reach using a full range of motion.
  • Work in dusty, smoky, and wet areas at times.
  • Work usually takes place in a manufacturing environment where conditions can be reflective of the outside elements.

Education

Bachelors Degree in Management or Mechanical Engineering

Associates Degree in Management or Mechanical Engineering
