Job Description

POSITION TITLE: Automation/PLC Engineer -- Ports

REPORTS TO: General Manager, Ports

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Candidate should have an electrical engineering degree or equivalent work experience to substitute. The ideal candidate will have 5 or more years of programming experience in motor controls and be knowledgeable in Siemens TIA Portal software platforms for PLC and HMI devices. Candidate should be able to read and understand one line and three line schematic diagrams as well as be able to read and write ladder logic diagrams. In this position you will troubleshoot and modify existing software programs requiring field work in Port and Intermodal environments throughout North and Central America. Excellent record keeping and communication skills are essential. Candidate must have experience using Siemens Step 7, as well as all Microsoft office applications.

EDUCATION: Electrical Engineering degree or equivalent experience.

EXPERIENCE: Minimum 5 years of experience. Knowledge of PLC / HMI controls. Knowledgeable in Siemens Step 7 software and HMI devices. Understand control functions and associated hardware. Ability to read and understand one line and three line schematic diagrams. Ability to read and write ladder logic diagrams. Familar with 3 phase motors and inverters.
