Job Description Summary:

The George Washington University is seeking a temporary Department Operations Assistant.   
The position will serve as the receptionist for the department and the assistant to the staff and faculty. 
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 
-Provides administrative support to Department Operations Lead and academic support to the Chair and Faculty of the Department. 
-Serves as the first point of contact for all faculty, students, and guests of the Department and carries out receptionist duties as needed. 
-Updates and maintains course scheduling as well as prepares, distributes, and coordinates dissertation announcements and required examinations. 
-Maintains and updates social media accounts and coordinates departmental events, seminars, and distinguished lectures. 
-Arranges travel and accommodations for researchers, visiting scholars, faculty, and students and handle event registrations for various conferences. 
-Duties also include: creates and organizes department newsletter, submit expenses in Concur; work with international students on Visa and enrollment processes, work with various offices on student hiring, and other duties as assigned. 
-Performs other related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.

Minimum Qualifications:

Qualified candidates will hold a high school diploma/GED plus 1.5 years of relevant professional experience, or, a Bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant area of study. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
