Duties:
Please note, this position is temp to perm.
Direct activities of the Biomedical Engineering department in the selection, procurement, and delivery of biomedical equipment and services. Develops and implements Biomedical Engineering department strategies, goals, objectives and policies that are consistent with, and support the organizations strategic plan. Prepares, implements, and updates healthcare technology equipment management plan. Ensures that all program elements are designed and implemented to comply with Joint Commission and other regulatory and inspection agency requirements, guidelines, and standards. Reports on industry developments, emerging technologies, regulatory changes, and other issues related to healthcare technologies that may have a strategic or other significant impact on the organization. Accountable for establishing quality metrics, measuring performance/success rate and developing and implementing changes that lead to improved patient safety. Provides support to clinicians and patients by recommending and managing medical equipment technology that is safe, reliable and efficacious.

Education:
Required Education: Bachelors Degree in Biomedical/ Clinical Engineering with 7 years of experience working for a healthcare organization and 5 years of management OR
Associates Degree in Biomedical Engineering with 10 years experience working for a healthcare organization and 5 years of management. Broad knowledge of medical equipment technology. Comprehensive knowledge of regulatory requirements for medical equipment including JCAHO, NFPA, AAMI, FDA and CMS. Competent using Microsoft Office (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Comprehensive knowledge and experience working with equipment management databases.
Ability to plan, organize, and implement policies and procedures
Certified as a Clinical Engineer (CCE) or Biomedical Equipment Technologist (CBET)

Languages:
English( Speak, Read, Write )

Certifications & Licenses:
Certified as a Clinical Engineer (CCE) or Biomedical Equipment Technologist (CBET)

Skills:
Define, develop and manage the delivery of the organizations biomedical engineering equipment management program. Organize and balance in-house and external (e.g. vendor, 3rd party) resources to achieve optimum economic performance and productivity without compromising quality, safety or patient care. Establish and maintains a staff culture that is focused on the safety of our patients by encouraging teamwork, quality, integrity, creativity and professional growth. Ensures that the biomedical engineering department staff are actively engaged in the creation and adherence to the departments mission and vision.
Participate in standing and ad hoc committees (e.g. Environment of Care, Medical Device,Medication Safety). Represent the organizations interests with respect to biomedical engineering in the larger healthcare community through participation in professional organizations and industry initiatives.Provide support to clinicians and patients by recommending and managing medical equipment technology that is safe, reliable and efficacious. Establish and maintain an effective partnership with other technical support departments (e.g. Information Technology, Facilities Management, Telecommunications) so that departments customers receive seamless support no matter what the cause of any equipment problems are.Prepare and submit annual department budget and monitor expenses to control or justify variances. Provide support to clinical and clinical support departments with their capital and operational expense planning. Develop short-term and long term asset replacement planning.
