Theater Adjunct Instructor

Chesapeake College Wye Mills, MD (Onsite) Full-Time
Description

Salary range is $821 - $899 per credit hour, based upon experience. This position is located in Cambridge, and is a hybrid course on Thursdays, 6 p.m. - 7:15 p.m.

The credit adjunct instructor is responsible for the coordination, planning, preparation, presentation, and evaluation of classroom instruction and related activities. The instructor is responsible for performing assigned duties during the day or evening on any Chesapeake College campus (including online or dual-enrollment sites) as assigned. This position reports directly to the Department Chairperson (or Program Director, as appropriate).

* Use and be proficient with the college LMS to notify students of key academic dates, notify students ofcourse adjustments, post syllabus and announcements, send/receive course mail, and maintain gradesandattendance
* Maintainaccurateandcompletegradebook inLMS
* Referstudentstoappropriatesupportresources,ifneeded
* Providealearningenvironmentthatsupportsstudentsuccess
* Teach assigned class in accordance with established student learning outcomes (SLOs)
* Providestudentsupport bybeingavailableoutsideofregularinstructionto assistwithcoursematerial.
* Developsyllabusorfollowdepartmentalsyllabus,asappropriate
* Evaluate student performance; select and compile assessments, assignments, and/or discussionactivities asameasurement ofperformance relativetoSLOs
* Participate incourse-levelassessmentandreportdata asrequired
* Maintainandsubmitaccurateandtimelyreportsforstudentgrades/progress(mid-termandfinal
* Maintainattendancerecords andreport attendancewhen required
* Maintain effective communication with the Chesapeake College community by utilizing Outlook emailregularly.
* Respond to student emails and phone calls within 48 hours with the exception of weekends andholidays.Facultyshouldmaintainregularcommunicationwithstudents
* Completeregulatorytrainingasrequired
* Perform other duties as outlined in the Faculty Resource Guide

Note:Additional duties may be assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications

Required: Master's degree in the teaching discipline or Master's degree in a closely related discipline with aminimumoffifteen(15)graduatesemesterhoursinthesubjectareafromanaccreditedinstitution.Degreesmust beverifiedwithofficial transcripts.

* Exceptional experience may be substituted for the Master's degree at the discretion of the Vice President. In the case of skilled trades and professional tracks, industry specific certifications can be substituted for academic degrees.

Credential requirements may differ for adjunct faculty hired to teach developmental courses.

* Experienceteachingadiversepopulationofstudentsinacommunitycollegesetting
* Experience with learning management systems (or the willingness to complete assigned training priortoteaching).
* ExceptionalcomputerskillsusingMicrosoftOfficeSuite
* Excellentcommunication,organizationalandtimemanagementskills
* Abilityto workeffectivelywithminimalsupervision
* Communicationandinterpersonalskillsasdemonstratedbypublicspeaking,training,andpresentation
* Evidence of familiarity and/or teaching excellence with adult learners in multiple formats, (i.e., online, face-to-face, hybrid)

* Mostof thejobissedentary, however,occasional periodsof lightworkmay berequired.
