Job Description
AECOM is seeking an Entry-Level Database Developer to be based in Germantown, MD.
This position is expected to begin in June 2023.
AECOM TechWorks has supported our customers in some of their most challenging times. AECOM has helped both public and private sector clients collect, manage, process, store and exploit data for thousands of damaged structures, hundreds of thousands of square miles of imagery, dozens of critical infrastructure components, and has deployed dozens of solutions on mobile, tablet, desktop, and browser-based platforms. Our portfolio of meaningful and high- profile projects continue to expand.
The successful candidate will support AECOM TechWorks in database development and data analytics, leveraging interdisciplinary techniques to extract knowledge and insights from data in various structured and unstructured forms. We're looking for someone to join our data team who is focused on leveraging data assets to deliver actionable and meaningful insights using analytics to our customers. The candidate will work with large and varied data sets, from multiple data sources, to conduct statistical analysis, generate concise reporting, and present recommendations to clients for future project deliverables. This can be a hybrid position, with the expectation of working collaboratively with the team by utilizing Microsoft Teams, JIRA, Confluence and other collaboration and development tools.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
* Responsible for working with large and varied data sets, from multiple data sources, develop scripts to conduct statistical analysis, generate concise reporting, and present recommendations to clients for future project deliverables
* Maintain up-to-date processes and upkeep with advanced and modernized systems/trends.
* Update, implement and maintain procedures
* Develop and prepare reports and relevant presentations
* Proven ability to work in a team environment. Collaborate with other data analysts, developers, testers, managers, and clients (internal and external)
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
* Bachelor's degree in relevant field or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education (Associate's degree + two years of experience, or High School/GED + 4 years of experience)
* Due to the nature of the work, U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Resident/Green Card is required
Preferred Qualifications:
* Demonstrated knowledge of relational databases including SQL Server, MySQL, open-source tool sets and unstructured data
* Ability to learn new software and technologies quickly
* Excellent verbal and written skills
* Knowledge on how to develop data models using standard diagramming techniques
* Knowledge of open-source analysis tools, big data and business intelligence technologies
* Familiarity with developing scripts using Python and/or R for data analysis
