Our uptown Houston, TX client is looking for an Accountant - Oil and Gas / Settlements Accountant to join their team on a contract basis.

Accountant - Oil and Gas / Settlements Accountant Role:
The oil and gas accountant will review, confirm, and settle inter-company cash movement and transaction bookings tied to natural gas and other commodities.
Work within the accounting and commodities department managing data and processing settlements.
Coordinate with the company, outside CPA resources, various teams, and corporate headquarters.
Complete confirmation of trades tied to exchange broker.
Actualize and settle in Allegro and SAP systems.
Perform reconciliation for AP/AR, ETRM data, and GL data.
Prepare monthly reports for GL and journal entries, tracking all settlement transactions.
Maintain tax hedge records and update data regularly and assist in hedge studies.
Prepare invoices for natural gas purchases and sales agreements.
File sales tax returns and manage these related deadlines.
Accountant - Oil and Gas / Settlements Accountant Background Profile:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field.
At least 3+ years of accounting with natural gas or commodity settlements.
Previous ERP experience – SAP Business ByDesign is a plus!
Allegro experience is a plus.
Previous experience supporting federal and state tax returns.
Excellent attention to detail and communication skills are a must.
