PRIMARY PURPOSE:
To perform forensic analysis of financial data with a focus on cases requiring data analytics capabilities. Cases will relate to various aspects of insurance claims including, but not limited to: business income loss, extra expense, stock/inventory loss, and personal injury wage loss.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES
- Performs forensic research to trace funds and identify assets for recovery.
- Conducts forensic analysis of financial data, i.e., profit and loss statements, payroll records, invoices, etc.
- Identify opportunities for use of analytics-based tools to advance casework
- Assists with the preparation of forensic accounting calculations and evaluations.
- Prepares analytical data for litigation.
- Have an understanding of statistical methods for forecasting, sampling data, identifying trends and relationships and be able to apply these methods in forensic analysis.
- Generates ad-hoc reporting and analysis as directed.
- Establishes and manages workflow of files and calculations.
ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Supports the organization's quality program(s).
- Participate in continued education for data analytics, data management, and data visualization.
- Travels as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Licensing
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university preferred. CPA or CFE license is preferred.
Certificate from accredited college or university in data analytics
Experience
Five (5) years of public or forensic accounting experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
One year of experience applying data analytics to public or forensic accounting experience or equivalent formal education
Skills & Knowledge
- Knowledge of financial data analysis
- Knowledge of statistical modeling, forecasting methods, and machine learning methods
- Good oral and written communication skills
- PC literate, including Microsoft Office products
- Experience dashboarding and preparing visualizations with Tableau or equivalent program
- Intermediate to advanced statistical coding experience on R or Python
- Database management skills, including experience with Microsoft Access or equivalent program
- Analytical and interpretive skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to multitask
- Ability to work independently or in a team environment
- Ability to meet or exceed Performance Competencies
