Health Care Surveyor 2 (Nursing) - 46218

Minimum Qualifications Permanent Transfer Candidates: Current NYS employee with one year of permanent or contingent permanent competitive service as a Health Care Surveyor 2, G20, and eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law OR Current NYS employee with one year of permanent or contingent permanent competitive service in a title G20 or higher and meeting the open competitive minimum qualifications listed below.
Open Competitive Minimum Qualifications: Currently licensed and registered as a professional nurse in NYS; AND a minimum of three years of post-licensure health care, public health, community health, or other nursing experience in an appropriate facility setting. Three years of this experience must have been providing direct patient care in a licensed health care facility.
Preferred Qualifications: Current clinical care knowledge. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills. Ability to work well independently and as part of a team. Long Term Care experience is a plus.
Duties Description Conduct and/or facilitate on-site surveys independently or as part of a team by observing and evaluating patient/resident care against established standards; interview staff and review records; investigate incidents and patient/resident complaints; investigate and gather information on unlicensed health care facility operations. Serve as a member of an interdisciplinary survey team responsible for evaluating nursing homes to ensure compliance with federal, state and department regulations and policies; participate in surveys, medical reviews and other audit mechanisms to determine that the healthcare needs and problems of residents are being appropriately served; participate in the investigation of incidents or complaints in nursing homes; participate in other program-related activities as needed.

Frequent travel, including overnights and travel to areas that may not be served by public transportation is required.
* Posted salary range includes the statutory hiring rate at step 4 and job rate for PS&T Grade 20 ($77,029 - $86140) and an additional Geographic Pay Differential of $20,000
