This position is critical to ensure wastewater meets the contractual and regulatory requirements for discharge to local waterways and ultimately Lake Michigan 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. To meet this goal requires a number of trades, operators and managers working as a coordinated team to maintain the system. This position is one of those required for this team. 

Under general supervision this position, installs, maintains, calibrates, troubleshoots, repairs, modifies, and overhauls controls and instrumentation and communication systems associated with the sewerage conveyance/collection system or treatment plant processing of raw sewerage for the Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District including assisting with the maintenance of the computer and microprocessor systems. Also installs, maintains, calibrates, troubleshoots, repairs, and overhauls non-process equipment such as, but not limited to, safety, surveillance and security, and analytical instrumentation, and other assigned duties including housekeeping chores.

Is required to accurately maintain and update records, documents, and manuals including electronic media. Must provide current, timely, accurate, and complete data, for all work assigned. Is required to follow current company/department policy and procedures, is required to fully participate in improvement initiatives, including but not limited t job plans, workflows, job safety analysis, standard maintenance procedures, preventative maintenance improvement initiatives, efficiency activities, use of technology based solutions, condition assessments and reliability initiatives.

1.Required to follow all applicable safety rules, regulations, policies, and procedures in performance of assigned duties. Is required to participate in all required safety training activities. Is expected to report any unsafe conditions encountered in performance of duties.
2.Installs, maintains, calibrates, troubleshoots, repairs and overhauls the indicating, recording, telemetering and controlling instrumentation (electronic, mechanical, pneumatic) used to measure and control variables - i.e., pressure, flow, temperature, motion, force and chemical composition - associated with and including computer and microprocessor control systems and associated peripheral equipment.
3.Assists in the implementation of the preventative maintenance schedule.
4.Assists in the research and ordering parts and equipment as needed; if assigned to Field may maintain inventory of spare parts and inventory records..
5.Updates Operating and Maintenance documents, i.e., hard copy, electronic and software as necessary.
6.Assists in the maintaining of repair records on equipment and systems.
7.Works safely on energized equipment pertaining to instrumentation.
8.Troubleshoots and repairs printed circuit boards.
9.Reads process, instrument, and ladder diagrams, and electronic and pneumatic schematics.
10.Works independently or with outside engineers and vendors to install, startup, test new control systems, modify existing systems, and act as resource for Control System Designs as required.
11.Assists in “on-the-job” training of other personnel.
12.Maintains fire alarm systems and surveillance and security equipment if required.
13.Maintains and troubleshoots electronic and specialized equipment, such as self-contained breathing apparatus and gas monitors.
14.Analyzes, troubleshoots, and maintains data communication systems if required.
15.Interfaces with utilities as necessary, such as the phone company.
16.Utilizes AutoCAD or similar program and engineering workstation, program and/or configure control systems logic and user interfaces and tune control loops on systems such as PLC’s and other DCS system. 
17.Utilizes test equipment such as Oscilloscope, multimeter, etc. for the maintenance of process instrument and control systems.
18. Performs other duties of a similar level and nature as assigned.


Educational Background
•High School Graduate or GED Equivalent – Required.
•Associate Degree in Electronics Technology from an accredited technical college or demonstrated ability to perform job duties - Required
•Certification in Advanced PdM Techniques – Preferred
•ISA certification - Preferred

Job Skills/Characteristics
•Knowledge and skills in the principles, practices, concepts and techniques used in advanced digital and analog electronics.
•Knowledge and skills in advanced mathematics such as geometry, advanced algebra, and Boolean algebra.
•Knowledge and ability to apply digital logic.
•Ability and skills in soldering and desoldering without damaging materials.
•Ability and skill in reading schematics or process and instrumentation drawings.
•Ability and skills in diagnosing and repairing equipment problems.
•Ability to establish and maintain effective public and working relationships.
•Ability to prepare accurate oral and written reports.
•Ability to enter data
•Skills in computers and data input devices, email, application and office software.
•Communicates effectively via written and oral methods with co-workers, supervisors, managers, and others when necessary.
•Ability to meet the physical demands of the job 
•Ability to work in confined spaces and to wear breathing apparatus for confined entry.
•Valid Wisconsin Driver’s license.

•One to three years experience in the electronics technology field or equivalent military experience

Work Environment: At plant sites, work involves intermittent exposure to confined entry areas, hazardous gases, heights, weather, noise, dirt, dust, organic waste, and explosive environments. In field, work involves exposure to extremes in temperature and humidity, dirt, dust, odors, hieights, wet environments, hazardous gases, organic waster, sewage, possible explosive hazards, and confined entry.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and taste or smell. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilites required on this job include close vision and distance vision. 

Work Hours: In plant, generally works weekdays first shift hours and is subject to overtime, recall, call-in and on-call. In field, includes weekdays first shift and on-call as assigned to respond to off-hour call outs by maintaining on call status 24/7. This on call also applies to weather events to cover nights, weekends and holidays.
