Paralegal Assistant

Job Details

The Paralegal Assistant performs specifically delegated substantive legal work providing assistance managing client files.
This position reports to the Paralegal Manager, receiving day-to-day direction from attorneys and paralegals in the Litigation Divisions.Please submit your application by no later than 45 days following the posted date.

Paralegal Assistant Responsibilities (75%)

  • Participate in the entire life cycle of multiple cases/matters from inception to close.
  • Assist in monitoring and tracking case/matter progression.
  • Manage and organize all case/matter documents, files, and internal/external databases associated with each specific assigned litigated case/matter.
  • Ensure that the case team has all necessary information available to them in a timely manner.
  • Maintain all physical elements of the case/matter in an organized, efficient, and accurate manner.
  • Provide both attorney(s) and client(s) with information necessary for litigation process, decision making, and review in a timely manner.
  • Conduct various document reviews, searches, and factual research.
  • Draft discovery documents.
  • Manage/track document productions.
  • Prepare and organize exhibits for filings, depositions, hearings and/or trial.
  • Court filings.
  • Docket court deadlines.
  • Prepare for and attend depositions, hearings, and/or trials.
  • Act as a liaison among various internal departments, experts/consultants, as well as with outside vendors and/or agencies.
  • Anticipate attorney and client needs related to matters or cases under management.
  • Delegate effectively and as appropriate to Legal Administrative Assistants and support staff working on the case/matter.
  • Handle all communications, whether oral and written, in a prompt and professional manner ensuring that information is transferred in an accurate and thorough manner.
  • Act as a liaison among various internal departments, experts/consultants, as well as with outside vendors and/or agencies.
  • Meet billable hour requirement of 1,250 hours per year.

General and Administrative (25%)

  • Time Entry and other administrative tasks as assigned to meet the business needs.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Work Environment & Physical Demands

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.  While performing the responsibilities of the position, these work environment characteristics are representative of the environment the person in this position will encounter. While performing the duties of this job, the employee will work in a professional, fast paced office environment that may require additional hours to complete work.
