Infoscitex is seeking an experienced Technical Writer to support the development of the USAF high visibility Advanced Framework for Simulation, Integration & Modeling (AFSIM) framework.
As a member of our team, you will support aerospace technologies research in St. Louis, MO, having opportunities to work in a dynamic environment, with state of the art simulation technologies, simulation integration experts, and military Subject Matter Experts (SME). This work focuses on enabling capability assessments for emerging aerospace technologies and ensuring related tools and methodologies are suitable for DoD Decision Support Systems.
Essential Job Functions:
Develop framework documentation to include Software Developer Manuals, User Guides, Software Installation Manuals, Reference Guides, Model Catalogs, model documentation, newsletters, and other related materials.
Independently analyze and break down the AFSIM software function, operation, and administration and then developing supporting documentation.
In addition to the independent work, you will work with cross functional teams to compile source data inputs and review developed material.
Participate in document validation/verification and In-Process Reviews, program reviews, and telecoms as required.
Directly communicate with various Program Office personnel, engineers, Government Information Security Assurance personnel, and other contractors to obtain required information.
Be involved in the development and collection of performance metrics for monthly reporting and for use in developing/improving the documentation process.
Due to the sensitivity of customer related requirements, U.S. Citizenship is required.
At least a High School Diploma or GED with at least thirteen years of technical writing experience. (We have multiple levels associated with this opportunity category. Candidates with advanced degrees or varied levels of experience may be considered for alternative classification.)
Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government background investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information: eligible to attain a Secret level U.S. DoD security clearance.
Demonstrated strong technical writing ability
Experience developing software user or system administrator manuals.
Ability to analyze and research software to support development of documentation.
Bring advanced to expert user capabilities with MS Office applications; specifically MS Word templates and styles.
Ability to work independently with limited guidance yet function as a member of a team.
Experience developing technical documentation for military computer systems.
Familiarity with military documentation using current DoD specifications and standards including but not limited to MIL-STD-3001, MIL-STD-38784, and MIL-STD-24784.
Experience developing documentation supporting Foreign Militaries.
Experience developing documentation through the use of markup languages, like reStructuredText, mathML, or LaTeX.
Experience with XML authoring, the S1000D specification, and Interactive Electronic Technical Manual (IETM) development.
