The Opportunity:

Portfolio Management is the unit of Energy & Commodity Management USA & Canada Dept. inside Global Trading that links the world of generation to the energy markets all across USA and Canada, to guarantee a continuous optimization of the Energy Gross Margin and a strategic coherence of all the actions put in place by the different stakeholders.

What You'll Do at Enel:

  • Develop models to analyze the energy Gross Margin and volumetric risk of assets, mainly battery storages, solar assets, wind assets (i.e. merchant revenues, basis costs, ancillary services revenues, capacity revenues), relying on enterprise software (Allegro) and other internal databases.
  • Perform measurement and root cause analysis of the variance between actual and budget Energy Gross Margin of the generation portfolio, breaking down them into elementary effects (like basis effect, volume effect, resource effect, curtailment effect...).
  • Study PPAs contracts clauses, focusing on modeling major contract characteristics into the Gross Margin Model.
  • Retrieve generation and ISO markets data from multiple internal databases and vendor servers using SQL and other querying languages.
  • Analyze generation and ISO markets data using data processing languages (Python, R, etc.) and Excel.
  • Analyze the outages plan provided by O&M and propose strategies to minimize its impact on the Energy Gross Margin and develop asset-specific metrics to communicate to O&M the expected market conditions.
  • Prepare graphs and presentations to share the results of performed analysis.
  • Propose actions to improve the forecasted Energy Gross Margin, based on outcomes of analysis, market expectations, risk profile, expected exposure of generation and PPAs' requirements.

Who You Are:

  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Comfortable as a team player.

What You've Accomplished:

  • 3+ years of professional experience in the US deregulated power industry; natural gas experience a plus.
  • Knowledge of operating principles of US markets (how the spot price is calculated, what an FTR/CRR is, how congestions and losses are managed, how renewable resources/batteries are dispatched) – knowledge about ERCOT and/or SPP is a plus.
  • Background in Economics, Finance, Mathematics or Energy and derivatives markets.
  • Knowledge of characteristics of PPA contracts is a plus.
  • Tax Equity Partnerships principles is a plus.
  • BA/BS degree.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Queries on SQL/Oracle Databases, Business Analytics (i.e. Spotfire, Power BI), Power Point.
  • Knowledge of PI is a plus.
  • Experience with programming data processing software (i.e. Python, Matlab, R).
