about the role:
As a Senior Footwear Developer for performance running, you will lead the development of innovative, performance-driven running footwear. You will collaborate closely with design, merchandising, and sourcing teams to create high-performance footwear that meets consumer needs and drives brand growth. This role focuses on bringing footwear concepts from ideation through commercialization, ensuring technical excellence, cost-efficiency, and alignment with lululemon's performance goals.

key responsibilities:
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including design, merchandising and manufacturing, to deliver innovative and market-leading products from concept to commercialization
• Provide expertise on performance running technologies, materials, and construction techniques ensuring that product design aligns with technical feasibility, cost targets, and performance requirements.
• Test and evaluate prototypes in collaboration with weartesting and biomechanics experts to optimize product performance. Drive iterations on fit, performance, and aesthetics based on feedback from athletes and testers.
• Troubleshoot technical challenges during the development phase to ensure manufacturability and scalability of designs.
• Communicate progress, challenges, and solutions to stakeholders, providing clear updates on development milestones.
• Maintain strong relationships with manufacturing partners to ensure comprehensive understanding of running business strategies and collaborate on delivery of design vision, tech pack clarity, and the development and commercialization of performance running product.
• Analyze running industry trends and consumer insights to inform development strategies.
• Ensure adherence to predetermined timelines and gates, actively tracking progress and keeping the team aligned. Regularly update and align leadership on project status and milestones to maintain transparency and strategic direction.
• Oversee projects to meet costing, performance, and manufacturing targets specific to performance running footwear, while ensuring alignment with design intent and merchandising brief requirements.
qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Industrial Design, Product Development, Engineering or 10+ years equivalent in field related work experience
• Strong knowledge of running footwear construction, biomechanics, and performance-enhancing technologies.
• Experience with advanced materials, cushioning technologies, and 3D modeling software.
• Knowledge of various types of footwear constructions and the unique challenges and processes involved in each
• Understanding of footwear manufacturing processes, especially related to performance products.
• In-depth knowledge of pattern making and shoemaking and how it relates back to fit and manufacturing processes
• Minimum 7 years of experience in footwear development, with a focus on performance running footwear.
• Proven track record of delivering successful running footwear products from concept to market.
• Able to deliver product on time and at cost; ability to navigate costing framework and supply chain levers
• Ability to build and manage multiple products on and off seasonal timelines with ease
• Proven leader who is passionate about mentoring and teaching others through humility and empathy
• Strong interpersonal skills including analytical, problem solving, organizational, issue resolution, and internal and external relationship management.
• Demonstrated ability to effectively interact and influence cross-functional teams, as well as work independently all while adapting to a changing environment.
• Ability to work through others by delegating and distributing work in order to meet goals.
• Self-motivated, strong sense of urgency, collaborative mindset
• Ability to manage multiple tasks & competing priorities.

compensation and benefits package:
lululemon's compensation offerings are grounded in a pay-for-performance philosophy that recognizes exceptional individual and teamperformance. Thetypical hiring range for this position is from$116,400 - 152,800annually; the base pay offered is based on market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and internal equity. As part of our total rewards offering, permanent employees in this position may be eligible for our competitive annual bonus program, subject to program eligibility requirements.
