Genesis10 is seeking a Director of Applications This is for a Direct Hire position in Temple, TX, with our client in the Retail industry.
 
Responsible for applications systems development activities for a major customer segment. Review, coordinate, and schedule systems development project requests and related departmental activities. Provide overall direction and guidance to assigned project leads and direct reports. Review and evaluate work of aligned staff and manage performance reporting. Prepare activity and progress reports regarding applications systems analysis and programming sections. In addition, the role includes the development and support of all content for internal and external web sites and implementation and support of third party package software. Another aspect of the role is to research and recommend solutions to problems that occur in any parts of the business while helping to cost justify those changes.
JOB FUNCTIONS / PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Other duties may be assigned. A teammate in this position must have the ability to:
  • Select, train and supervise Information Systems resources and staff support resources.
  • Develop plans for his/her group consistent with the development/maintenance planning cycle. Included in these responsibilities are project plans, assistance in budget preparation and annual specific objectives.
  • Conduct performance appraisals for personnel in a timely fashion and initiates salary administration action when appropriate.
  • Review summary project control information on a regular basis to assure that projects are on schedule and institute corrective action when required.
  • Allocate development resources to support project schedules.
  • Interface with management on a regular basis to establish project priorities and to resolve systems development issues.
  • Be responsible for the coordination of the Information Systems functions with other areas including Computer Operations, Quality Assurance, Security, Information Technology, Auditing and User Management.
  • Interface with other company business functions to support the information needs of a corporation.
  • Maintain state of the art knowledge of the systems analysis, program analysis, and project management functions.
  • Implement and research new technology solutions based on an understanding of the business need and what technology can do to solve those needs.
  • Maintain a close working relationship with User Management to assure that information needs are recognized, well developed and translated into meaningful and user friendly information systems.
  • Ensure that the appropriate participation of personnel outside of his/her group is included, as necessary, in the project development life cycle.
  • Ensure the enforcement of Information Systems and company standards including project reporting, resource management tools and sound systems development practices and methodologies.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and makes strategic technology recommendations.
  • Evaluate staff and look to offset any weaknesses by hiring or training. Complete midyear and year end employee reviews. Set goals and objectives and measures the successful completion of each goal.
  • Assist the business teams with technical leadership, training, and a sense of understanding of what solutions are available within Company. This would include attending sales presentations and helping the organization close deals with potential customers.
  • Manage the overall quality and content of each Company web application and or content using the latest technology available.
  • Drive projects to closure by mitigating open issues between the departments and project groups.
  • Verify that the priority ranking of projects being identified by each business owner is clearly communicated to the technical team.
  • Ensure that all problem tickets are addressed in a timely fashion.
  • Ensure cost benefit analysis and return on investment research is done and tracked through the course of the year.MINIMUM SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
    A teammate in this position must:
  • Bachelor's Degree, Master's degree preferred.
  • Heavy industry experience "RETAIL " and a detailed understanding of both the technical and business processes for a large organization in supply chain.
  • Hands on experience with Oracle database
  • Experience managing managers
  • Proven record of managing application developers
  • Exposure to Internet-of-Things is a plus
  • Package software implementations is a plus
  • Knowledge of Exadata Oracle environment is a plus WORKING CONDITIONS:
