Sales Manager

PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Responsible for leading the Account Managers to grow sales. This includes building quarterly sales plans, and ensuring each account manager has a daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly focus. The Sales Manager will lead by example, and on the best course of action to take with each territory within their team. They will also collaborate with other members of the Sales Management team on yearly sales objectives.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Decision making and judgement that always place HCL and business needs first.
• Must have the confidence to have critical and confidential conversations concerning performance, discipline, policy issues, etc.
• Coaching of Account Managers to grow their customer base by penetrating each department, uncover customer needs/opportunities, convert quotes and to assist with the improvement of verbal and written discussion. This includes sitting in at the AMs workstation a minimum of 6 hours per month, per team.
• Empowering Account Managers on effective site visits; accompanying them on initial visit to their territory, and additional visits as needed; review Travel Log and provide approval for upcoming trips in a timely manner; coach through planning, executing, and achieving ROI from site visits
• Customer interaction – Spends a minimum of 2 hours per week reaching out to customers and share what is learned with appropriate Account Manager and ensure proper follow up
• Ensure that the Account Managers and Territory Support Specialists have the appropriate training and other resources to perform their jobs
• Completes assigned reports accurately and on time
• Keep accurate documentation on Account Managers & Territory Support Specialist to contribute to reviews, promotions and/or terminations.
• Create and maintain a professional work environment so team members are motivated and challenged to perform at their highest levels
• Attends trade shows and assists with booth set up, follows-up on trade show leads and/or distributes leads accordingly, as needed.
• Maintains effective communication with departments outside of sales including Accounting, Resource, Human Resources, Manufacturing and Shipping.
• Attends computer, customer process, team, and product trainings, and may lead trainings as needed.
• Maintains adherence to all Company policies and procedures including expense reports and regular attendance
• Works safely to prevent on-the-job injuries by following ergonomic guidelines
• Other functions as assigned to meet business/department needs
• All other duties as assigned
REQUIREMENTS:
• High School Diploma or GED
• Preferred Account Manager II position or minimum 2 years’ tenure with HCL
• Sales skills in a consultative selling or equivalent environment
• Ability to make independent decisions that are in the best interest of HCL
• Proven leadership skills
• Ability and desire to develop and motivate a team
• Ability to communicate effectively to a variety of audiences
• Excellent written/oral communication skills
• Excellent organizational, planning and prioritization skills
• Possess a thorough understanding of Microsoft Office
• Ability to provide and support vision and direction
• Ability to work independently and in group environment
• Willingness and ability to travel
• In Office environment: Requires ability to sit for extended periods of time with frequent hand & finger dexterity. Continuous ability for near/far vision and hearing
• Travel/Trade shows: Frequent standing/walking with occasional need to kneel/squat/lift. Continuous ability for near/far vision and hearing
