Occupational Summary
Responsible for providing administrative and operational support for the Center on Genomics, Race, Identity, Difference(GRID) and the Center on Truth, Racial Healing and Transformation (TRHT).

Work Performed
Maintain liaison with other programs, offices and departments at Duke and with external organizations, departments and programs, as appropriate, to accomplish objectives of GRID and TRHT, as well as to ensure cooperative efforts are enhanced and available resources are utilized.

Monitor spending on GRID and TRHT accounts to ensure spending stays in line with budgets. Execute purchases, compensation of research participants and consultants, service contracts, and other Center-related financial matters. Coordinate these activities with other administrative staff that support GRID and TRHT.

Manage director's calendar and calendar of activities related to GRID and TRHT. Schedule and coordinate meetings (in-person and virtual) among GRID and TRHT staff, students, faculty, and with others at Duke and external to Duke (including internationally).

Process domestic and international travel arrangements for GRID and TRHT faculty, staff, and students, working closely with travel agent, visa service, and other entities (inside and out side of Duke) as needed.

Provide technical assistance in the preparation of manuscripts, progress reports, and other research-related products.

Assist with the preparation of grant applications, working closely with the director, investigators, and grants administrator.

Organize seminars, conferences, workshops, public forums, and similar activities led by GRID and TRHT. Develop new ideas/concepts for resources or materials relevant to GRID and TRHT programs.

Assist with the preparation and production of brochures, fliers, advertisements, newsletters, and other promotional and educational materials for the various scholars and publics served by GRID and TRHT.

Assist with management of GRID and TRHT websites and social media.

Represent assigned programs or projects on behalf of director with study participants, collaborators and consultants.

Participate in various career development activities, such as workshops that will enhance his/her knowledge and skills relevant to GRID and TRHT.

Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

•Computer proficiency required. Capable of working with email, databases and Microsoft Office
•Proficiency with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Dropbox, Box, Google Docs, Doodle Poll, Microsoft Publisher, and other similar research and administrative tools
• Fluency with online technology such as ocial media platforms, websites, and web conferencing tools (e.g. Skype, Adobe Connect, WebEx, GoTo Meeting, etc.).

Minimum Qualifications


Work requires a broad knowledge of clerical and accounting principles and practices normally acquired through two years of post-secondary education in secretarial science or a related business field.


Work generally requires four years of related secretarial/clerical experience to acquire skills necessary to administer complex office functions related to office management, communications, and budgetary/accounting activities.OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
