Stone Interiors is a design firm of 10 located in Pacific Heights, San Francisco. We serve a mix of sophisticated clients, including innovators and leaders in their fields. They entrust to us their personal residential projects. Our mission is to discern each client’s desires and to exceed every client’s expectations.

Designer/ Project Manager

The candidate will work closely with the Senior Designer and Principal to manage the design process to meet client needs and objectives according to design intent and schedule. The person in this role is responsible for facilitating all design work from conceptual and presentation stage through the completion of assigned projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support Senior Designer and Principal in all aspects of design process from concept to final specifications, construction, and installation
  • Work with Senior Designer to prepare project objectives, project deliverables, and client presentations
  • Facilitate client and internal meetings, installations, and post-project follow-up
  • Generate furniture plans and elevations, cabinetry drawings, and custom furniture documents
  • Research and develop concepts, sourcing and specifications
  • Manage design production and coordinating with Senior Designer to move projects forward; providing regular project and production updates as needed
  • Maintain up-to-date, detailed, and organized project files and materials utilizing purchasing software, task management application and other studio standards
  • Support the ordering process by requesting quotes and creating specifications
  • Foster open, frequent communications with our internal team, architects, vendors and contractors
  • Lead and mentor Junior Designers and Interns on all assigned projects


Skills, Knowledge, Experience – must have proficiency in all areas

  • Minimum of 4-6 years of experience as a Designer/Project Manager in high-end, residential interior design
  • Highly proficient in AutoCAD, Photoshop, and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint)
  • Studio Designer or similar purchasing software
  • Experience with all aspects of the procurement process and its documentation (trade-only, custom)
  • Communicate effectively in a polite, personable and professional manner in written and verbal forms with our team, contractors, workrooms and clients
  • Literacy of architectural plans, details, and specifications
  • Full knowledge of the design and procurement process
  • Existing knowledge of Bay Area vendors and custom workrooms
  • Perform field measurements and document building site conditions
  • Understanding of the specifications for lighting, furnishings, hardware, floor and window coverings, materials, fabrics and finishes
  • Detail-oriented, highly organized, with excellent time management skills
  • Effectively work on multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
  • Proactive, flexible, respectful team player who is comfortable working in a small team setting
  • Confident, accountable, self-starter who takes direction well, listens and brings their best to each task great or small
  • Able to work outside regular business hours if needed and live within 30 minutes of San Francisco, CA
  • Must be able to travel as necessary for projects
