Job Summary

This is a Department ofNursing Service position that provides delivery of patient care with theknowledge of a Registered Nurse. Must demonstrate the clinical ability to workas Primary RN on the Unit to which assigned. Must be able to coordinates the deliveryof patient care on the Unit; completes required documentation; participates inpatient/family teaching and discharge planning, effectively utilizing theNursing Process.

Essential Functions

To perform this job, an individual must perform each essentialfunction satisfactorily with or without a reasonable accommodation. 

Provides leadership by working cooperatively and effectivelywith physicians, ancillary staff and other administrative and support personnelin maintaining the standards of professional nursing practice in themultidisciplinary clinical setting. Provides direct patient care to patientsusing the nursing process in accordance with applicable scope and standards ofpractice.

Performs plan of care intervention, including medicationadministration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, as well as othermedical care treatment.

Documents patient care given.

Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition asappropriate to care team, physician, patient, and family.

Assists patients with performing activities of daily living,including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.

Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patientcare, including patient transfer, discharge, referral andspiritual/psychosocial support needs.

Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and providespatient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, andcircumstances.

Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-beingof the patient.

Minimum Education: Required: 

Associate’s Degree 

Certification(s) required upon hire:

BCLS required on hire (once ACLS is obtained BCLS no longer required)

Certification(s) required within 60 days of hire:

Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)

Certification(s) required within 6 six (6) months of hire:



Required SkillsMinimum of

 1 years Med Surg/Telemetry experience .

Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Certifications:BCLS required on hire (once ACLS is obtained BCLS no longer required)Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) required within 60 days of hirePALS and TNCC required within 6 months of hire- Not required by RN Traveler Competencies:: Moderate Sedation within 30 days of hire and annually thereafter.EKG Course and NIHSS Stroke within 30 days of hire and annually thereafter.

Licenses:Arizona Registered Nurse (RN) License or Compact State Registered Nurse (RN) License required on hire
