Facility & Aquatics Supervisor

Forest Highlands Association Flagstaff, AZ (Onsite) Full-Time
Job Overview: This position oversees Facility & Aquatics staff in facility upkeep and maintenance, opening and closing

facilities for the season, pool supervision, rule enforcement, swim instruction, food service to the pool

patrons and other related duties. The primary focus of the Facility and Aquatics Supervisor is to facilitate

safe community recreation for everyone through integration, inclusion, and participation in our facilities

and aquatic recreation.

Essential Functions:

• Supervisory -
  • Operations - Create and manage the daily sign in/out sheet for all pool users including
  • (but not limited to) all aquatic equipment. Know, understand and be able to convey all
  • aquatic rules to those utilizing any of the aquatic facilities. Create and complete daily
  • checklists and job duties to ensure completion
  • Oversee facilities including pools, parks, and racquet centers.
  • Develop, plan, organize, implement and evaluate aquatic programming.
  • Supervise Recreation Staff performing facility maintenance and aquatic roles.
  • Assist in supply purchasing and tracking expenditures according to budget.
  • Assist in control of equipment and supplies.
  • Coordinate & effectively communicate with outside agencies and service providers.
  • Effectively promote recreation and aquatics programming through all available resources.
  • Assist with recreation programs, classes, and activities as needed.
  • Ability to exercise initiative, judgment, and problem solving skills.
  • Work under limited supervision following standard guidelines of the Recreation
  • Department of Forest Highlands.
  • Maintain a mature, professional and service oriented attitude towards all members.
  • Hard working, energetic and able to have fun while maintaining the responsibility of their
  • job.
  • Ability to work flexible and long hours - days, nights, weekends and holidays including
  • double and triple shifts.
  • Complete all tasks assigned to you, including TO DO lists in a professional and timely
  • manner.
  • Assist with snow operations.
  • Render emergency first aid and CPR according to prescribed procedures, and notify
  • emergency medical personnel when necessary.
  • Determine group interests, and adapt activities to meet participant needs.
  • Assist other Recreation Supervisors in overseeing and organizing Concierge, Programs,
  • and Fitness tasks, including but not limited to answering phone calls and emails.
  • Assist in hiring and training of all recreation staff
  • Create staffing schedule and assign staff to shifts
  • Make recommendations to improve the Recreation Department.
  • All other duties as assigned
  • Complete any additional duties assigned to better serve the members of Forest
  • Highlands.
  • Lessons: Engage each member and answer all lesson and scheduling inquiries. Instruct
  • those students who signed up for swim lessons during the allotted time. Coordinate all
  • private and group swim lessons throughout the season. Swimming instruction work
  • involves teaching and evaluating all age groups and all levels of swimming, including
  • specialized areas of instruction Pool Supervision involves the effective supervision of all
  • members, administration of first aid, performance of routine facility maintenance, and
  • other related duties as required.
  • Other: Attend bi-weekly and/or monthly meetings and be able to complete other tasks as
  • assigned within the Recreation Department as needed.

Requirements

Minimum Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or GED and a minimum of 45 college credits hours required
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Previous swim instruction experience
  • Current CPR/First Aid certification (opportunities to obtain these are available through Forest
  • Highlands upon being hired).
  • Clean background check
  • Background with kids, babysitting, Education etc.
  • Basic knowledge of pool facilities, country club and golf course operations.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and customer service skills.
  • Must be self-motivated with a positive and professional attitude.
  • Organized, able to work in a busy environment where the priorities are changing.
  • Ability to perform a wide variety of tasks during busy times while working flexible hours with an
  • enthusiastic personality.
  • Must be reliable.

Preferred Requirements:
  • Water Safety Instructor Certification
  • Aquatic emergency care certification
  • Lifeguard Certificate
  • 1 to 3 years of related experience in a private club; or equivalent combination of education and
  • experience
  • Ability to operate golf carts
  • Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions; skilled
  • in following safety practices and recognizing hazards.
  • CPR/First Aid and AED certified
