Position Summary

Monitor electronic sensory devices for the Forensic services, including door alarms and fence alarms, through mobile patrols, walking patrols, and stationary post assignments. Make visual and physical security checks within the secure area of the Forensic facilities and surrounding areas. Perform necessary searches and inspections of persons and property to restrict the introduction and movement of contraband. Monitor the ingress and egress of persons, vehicles, and objects within the secure area. Provide observation of Forensic residents outside the Forensic facilities to deter inappropriate actions. Transport Forensic residents to off-grounds/out-of-town activities such as court appearances and medical appointments. Respond to requests for assistance calls with unmanageable or potentially violent residents. Maintain accurate documentation of department activities as required. Comply with HIPAA guidelines and other related statutes/laws concerning release of information and confidentiality. Work closely with Law Enforcement agencies and Department of Corrections to encourage and maintain a good working relationship.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Be at least 18 years of age.
  • Be a citizen of the United States.
  • Be a high school graduate or its equivalent.
  • Not have been convicted of any felony or misdemeanor involving perjury or a false statement.
  • Have processed fingerprints on file with the employing agency.
  • Have passed a physical examination by a licensed physician.
  • Have a good moral character as determined by a background investigation.
  • Have completed a 320-hour basic recruit training course or its equivalent.

Other job-related requirements:

  • A valid driver’s license.
  • MANDT at the Advanced level is required unless reasonable accommodation is requested.
  • Maintain confidentiality of employee and/or resident information.
  • Incumbents will be required to spend a minimum of 75% of work time performing duties which involve direct contact with residents in a secure forensic facility.

WORK SCHEDULE

This position is located at a 24-hour facility. Staff members must be agreeable to working a shift schedule; regular, evening, or night. Days Off: Varies.

Employees may be required to work additional days/hours based upon the needs of the facility and center.
