SR Machinist

Key Responsibilities:
- Under minimum supervision, the employee is responsible for planning, programming, and operating CNC machining equipment utilizing Mastercam 2025 to perform multiple machining operations to generate machine parts developed by AutoCAD, sketches, and or reverse engineering processes.
- Machining operations generally involve setups using appropriate machine attachments to make parts involving at times close tolerances and finish requirements.
- Develops programs by assigning tool paths, feed/speed rates and other cutting parameters to create part programs efficiently.
- Import numerical code to machine control and performs setup and operation functions to machine component.
- Knowledge of basic Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing. Manual machining equipment experience is preferred. (Engine Lathes, Manual Milling, Saws, Drill Presses, etc.)
- Working knowledge with a variety of metals and materials having different machining characteristics. Ability to design fixtures and tooling to perform machining operations.
- Ability to work independently as well as working closely with engineering and design staff to develop alternate solutions to the designs to allow for better manufacturability.
- Direct lower-level fabrication and machine shop personnel.
- Location: Columbia, MD [On-site]
- Working Hours: Standard 40 hours per week
Qualifications:
Required:
- Must be able to obtain interim secret to start and maintain secret once approved.
- 6 years of related experience as a senior-level machinist.
- Experienced operating Hass VF series milling machines.
- Experienced operating Hass TL lathes.
- Experienced with Mastercam or similar software programs utilized to generate CNC machine code. Mastercam 2025 experience highly desired.
Basic Compensation:
$60,257-$79,622
This range is for the MD area only.
The offered rate will be based on the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, abilities and/or experience and in consideration of internal parity.
