Position Summary

The Emerging Markets Middle Office Manager will manage and oversee all middle office functions for the Emerging Markets Group, whose AUM is comprised of fixed income, equities, and blended products. The various accounts invest in bonds, equities and derivatives. This position includes (but is not limited to) IMA code reviews; facilitating on-boarding of new accounts; acting as key point of contact between front and back office. Responsibilities also include conducting quantitative portfolio analytics to support the Emerging Markets (EM) portfolio management team for various purposes including risk management, RFPs and marketing materials. As part of the role, the candidate will manage the middle office team and liaise with multiple groups internally including Portfolio Compliance, Client Services, IT and Marketing.

Essential Duties

* Ensure that all data with respect to the various Emerging Markets portfolios (funds, separate accounts, commingled accounts) is properly stored, maintained and accurately represented in client reporting and marketing materials. This includes portfolio weights and risk metrics, AUM and flows
* Manage the account opening process for new accounts, including confirming country / cash accounts to be opened by the custodian; reviewing IMAs; preparing pre-funding model portfolios; working with transition manager if funding is in-kind
* Work with relevant teams to ensure that portfolio guidelines are coded accurately and liaise with appropriate internal groups and counterparties on any guideline violations
* Assist in responding to the compliance segments and data portions of RFPs
* Perform quantitative analysis to support portfolio managers. This may include comparing index versus fund metrics, calculating intra-month returns and returns on individual bond positions, re-calculating index weights based on what-if scenarios, calculating portfolio returns versus actual if a portfolio had remained static, etc.
* Lead the design and structure of automated client reports as needed, liaising with the IT department
* Supervise all middle office functions which includes trade input, cash reconciliation, and month end& quarterly reporting
* Work with the IT department on external & internal requests relating to portfolio data
* Trouble-shoot issues with Excel macros and investigate data anomalies
* Represent the EM team on various TCW technology, trading, compliance and operational committees

Required Qualifications

* Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university
* Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel is critical for this role; strong proficiency in Bloomberg and proficiency in Microsoft Word and other Microsoft Office functions is also necessary
* At least 10 years of relevant emerging markets middle office experience. Strong understanding of securities clearance & settlements over a wide range of emerging market countries
* Strong supervisor/management experience
