Job Summary

A Portfolio Manager in the Business Banking segment for borrowers with revenue up to $50MM has the primary responsibility of underwriting and decisioning applicable segmentation lending opportunities by balancing risk and growth, ensuring loan structures are appropriate and consistent with bank lending standards, assigning an appropriate asset quality rating, and decisioning applications with assigned lending authority.

This work is completed in a fast-paced, high-volume environment and requires the completion of detailed financial analysis to obtain a deeper understanding of an application's credit risk. Collaborate with Relationship Managers, internal support staff, and others to provide credit expertise to underwrite and monitor the portfolio.

Office locations possible; Evansville IN, Indianapolis IN, Ann Arbor MI, Milwaukee, Madison WI, Eagan MN, St. Louis MO, Hickory Hills IL, Chicago 180 N. LaSalle, and Chicago 8750 West Bryn Mawr.

Key Accountabilities

Underwrite and Decision Loans

* Underwrite and decision renewals and new credit requests focusing on appropriate due diligence, risk assessment, analysis of repayment ability and asset quality ratings (AQR)
* Meet quality standards and complete required underwriting guidelines as outlined in ONB loan standards (policies and guidelines and procedures); third-party evaluation by Loan Review, OCC, as well as ONB Senior Management and/or others will be the focal point on analysis in determining level of underwriting and accuracy of Asset Quality Ratings (AQR)
* Meet or exceed productivity expectations for annual credit approval memorandum (CAM) volume including appropriate turnaround times
* Make prudent credit decisions balancing risk and growth; utilize assigned lending authority based on approval authority matrix to exercise granted authority confidently, independently via problem solving/sound decision making and with integrity
* Produce a high quality and accurate analysis without sacrificing efficiency in a fast-paced, high-volume environment where multiple credit requests must be prioritized to meet client driven response timelines
* Develop and maintain in depth knowledge of ONB Commercial Online System and covenant libraries
* Maintain an Individual Development Plan (IDP) adjusted annually (minimally) with specific training goals, action plans and long-term guidance

Partner with respective Relationship Managers as well as Treasury Management Partners

* Provide credit expertise using a consultative approach effectively communicating risks, questions, and options to RM seeking win-win solutions
* Deliver exceptional internal customer service and adopt new processes and new tools, as available
* Create strong partnerships with team members on revenue generating sales team, support teams and others in Credit to ensure a collaborative team and empowered environment

Monitor Portfolio

* Accurately assign asset quality ratings (AQR) with each underwriting
* Work with assigned Relationship Managers to monitor the credit portfolio to maintain strong asset quality; review trend analysis reports, address covenant violation and default situations, delinquencies, review maturing notes, receipt of financial information, and Borrowing Base Certificate (BBC) reports and other reports as appropriate
* Prepare credit data in Special Assets Assessment and Action Summary (SAAAS) and Upgrade Hurdles, as necessary, working with assigned Relationship Managers
* Portfolio Managers may monitor overlines and Treasury Management/ACH risk reports or other trends, as appropriate
* Corporate and Commercial PMs will monitor over advances on borrowing base situations
* Business Banking PMs will monitor over advances on borrowing base situations

Client Leadership

* Client Leadership - Puts the (internal and/or external) client in the forefront; strives to accurately assist clients/partners by becoming a trusted advisor, establishes long-term productive relationships

Qualifications and Education Requirements

* At least 5 years of Commercial Credit experience required
* Demonstrate progressive experience within Commercial Credit required with each incremental level of responsibility
* Demonstrated ability to independently (with limited oversight) understand, analyze and interpret financial statements
* Understand and takes appropriate action related to risks associated with lending to various types of industries
* Knowledge of loan structuring, borrowing causes and lending regulations; ability to comply and conform to ONB lending policies, guidelines, and standards with full understanding on when to approve policy exceptions with appropriate mitigation
* Must be able to make sound independent decisions and communicate those decisions clearly and effectively to the internal/external client quickly given the high volume, fast-paced environment
* Must be able to actively listen, quickly identify issues as well as opportunities when they arise, and problem solve in real-time to move the work accordingly
* Must feel comfortable working in a collaborative team environment along with being an independent thinker
* Credit authority level is determined by policy.
