We’re looking for an experienced Department Manager to join our team!

Department Managers primarily perform supervisory and other management responsibilities.  Department Managers are the primary decision makers regarding the distribution of unloading assignments to warehouse handlers and the coordination of unloading activities through the direction of leads and backup leads.  They manage and have ultimate responsibility for the accurate and timely completion of administrative paperwork for reporting daily activity to the corporate office.  The Department Manager is responsible for ensuring compliance with all FHI policies and procedures. 

Responsibilities include: 

  • Adaptability and the ability to handle high-pressure situations are essential.
  • Communicate effectively with other departments and customer service to meet customer demands.
  • Provide regular updates to senior management on warehouse performance and challenges.
  • Perform duties safely and efficiently while working in a fast-paced environment. Ensure that operations are aligned and performed to achieve production and safety goals. 
  • Perform all job tasks the leadership staff assigns to achieve and maintain daily productivity and quality goals. 
  • All other duties as assigned. 

*Please note this is not a travel position and you should live local to the site.

Qualifications Required: 

Education:   

We believe that skills and experience are what truly matter. While education can be a valuable asset, it is not a strict requirement for success in this role. 

Experience: 

  • Experience in managing and leading a team is essential.
  • Requires a combination of leadership, organization, problem-solving, and technical skills to ensure the smooth functioning of the warehouse department.
  • Strong communication skills are essential for interacting with team members, other departments, and external stakeholders like suppliers and customers.

Skills/Knowledge: 

  • Good verbal/written communication skills. 
  • Willingness to work the required schedule. 
  • Ability to speak and write English for effective communication. 
  • Basic math skills.  
  • Attention to detail and ability to follow directions.  
  • Interact respectfully and courteously with associates, co-workers, management, and customers.  
  • Ability to work in a team environment. 

Physical Demands: 

  • Ability to lift, walk, bend, twist, reach, push and squat most of the workday. 
  • Handle cases weighing from 25 to 95 pounds and can expect to handle between 50 and 200+ pallets on any given day.  
  • The ability to hear, understand, and distinguish speech and/or other sounds (e.g., machinery alarms or alarms) in moderate to loud work environments.  

Work Environment: 

  • This position is designated as safety-sensitive by the company, and the ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner is required.  Warehouse environment with extreme heat and cold temperatures.  
  • This position is based in a climate climate-controlled warehouse setting with an average temperature of 35 degrees.
  • This is an overnight shift that starts at 11:00 PM
