ERAM / Data Comm Systems Test Engineer-Mid Lvl

Job Description

Looking for a System Test Engineer with strong Air Traffic Skills such as Ex-Air Traffic Controller, Subject Matter Experts in Air Traffic Control, Ex- Level of Effort (LOE) personnel supporting ARTCC's etc. Will be responsible for creating, updating, and executing Functional Test Plans and Procedures for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Air Traffic Control (ATC) ERAM / Data Comm System. Test related activities may include front-end, back-end, performance, and regression testing of various software or hardware components of the Air Traffic Control Systems. The position requires significant interaction with other System Test Engineers, Software Engineers, and System Engineers along with interface to FAA Customers and Management. Duties will include writing, revising, reviewing, and executing System Test Plans and Procedures to ensure the system under test meets all defined requirements. Evaluate and test ATC System/Software using various testing techniques to verify functionality and performance according to specifications and requirements. Collaborate with functional and development teams to define and analyze test artifacts. Analyze test artifacts to identify system problems and options for improving the effectiveness of the Test procedures and the Integration test team. Contribute to the setup, configuration, and maintenance of the System under Test. Complete work assignments and perform appropriate follow up to ensure that tasks are completed on time. Participate in review of standards, procedures, tools, and process. Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for a Position of Public Trust.

Skills

Candidates shall provide the appropriate technical expertise to support the program in accomplishing the items identified below.
  • Strong Air Traffic Skills such as Ex-Air Traffic Controller, Subject Matter Experts (SME) in Air Traffic Control, or Ex- Level of Effort (LOE) personnel supporting ARTCC's
  • Requires system testers
  • Development/test/validation of test scenarios
  • Development of test plans/procedures
  • Support test Execution in a lab environment
  • Data analysis necessary to verify PR fixes
  • Develop and maintain CR verification
  • Develop and maintain regression tests
  • Integration & Test status reporting
  • Experience in following a documented Integration and Test Development Process
  • Strong communication skills to interface with internal and external customers
  • Support government witnessed test execution (Formal Test)
  • Manage and own issues in multiple labs/deployed systems in multiple locations
  • Debug and resolve/identify software and system issues, working across the various system functions and threads
  • Write tools/productivity aids for use in integration and test
  • Create scripts/tools to automate log analysis and system recovery actions
  • Work Overtime (OT), off hours or weekends if necessary to meet deadlines y
  • Understanding of Linux or other UNIX type operating system
  • Support fielded systems remotely and physically (ability to travel)
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills


Education

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Math, or Physics or ATC Subject Matter Expert Equivalent Experience

Experience:
  • 3 - 10 years' experience writing and executing System Level Test procedures on the
    ERAM/Data Comm System
  • 3 - 10 years' experience with AIX/Linux/Unix operating systems
  • 3 - 10 years' experience performing Data Reduction and Analysis
  • 3 - 10 years' experience writing test plans
  • 3 - 10 years' experience generating test scenarios
  • 3 - 10 years' experience with HOST/NAS a plus
