As an Operational Analyst, you will extract, manipulate, manage, and analyze Just Energy%26rsquo;s core business data including the attributes of our customers and data which serve as the basis for our departmental key performance indicators to maximize our understanding of the business at the most granular level and ultimately drive profitable growth. You will collaborate with teams across the company to identify and evaluate strategies that foster long-term success of Just Energy. You will execute and oversee operational processes to ensure the day-to-day success of Just Energy and its affiliates operations.
Responsibilities:
  • Gain an understanding of energy markets to help the company track shifts in industry trends, understand industry core competencies and overall business model of various industry segments, track and understand competitor performance, understand and identify industry business opportunities, and monitor and understand the impact of changes in the regulatory environment
  • Gain an intimate understanding of various systems which support our key business functionality including customer relationship management, billing systems, pricing, load forecasting, etc. Utilize that understanding to better understand data and drive more informed decisions making
  • Work alongside department leaders to progress our goals by analyzing the data which allows us to make smarter and more meaningful decisions quickly
  • Take ownership of our data quality and flag inconsistencies, analyze and identify useful performance indicators and data trends / correlations, create reports at various levels of granularity to show your findings, document your process and findings to create standardized and repeatable processes and identify and implement opportunities to improve the quality of our data and processes
  • Drive and assist with forming our departmental strategy by providing insights into our data and building various data models to prove or test those insights
  • Brainstorm innovative ideas, prepare business cases, and pilot strategic initiatives
  • Draft, review, and revise business requirement documents and process flows as needed and obtain stakeholder approval for both operational and commission processes
  • Execute and oversee operational processes including customer onboarding activities, invoicing, billing, payment processing, collections, account management, customer offboarding, customer care and customer experience
  • Support operational efficiency through ad-hoc requests and reporting
  • Effectively communicate project status & provide timely escalation of issues to ensure project objectives are met
  • Assist with developing better and more timely operational reporting metrics for senior management/Board of Directors and design reports to standardize the operations metrics
  • Review and assist with the development of key vendor management processes including looking for opportunities to reduce operating costs (e.g., vendor consolidation), improve contract terms, and adding and ultimately monitoring key performance indicators and service level agreements
  • Assist with analyzing and implementing improvements in Customer Care/Customer Experience initiatives
  • Assist with the oversight and management of resources surrounding other operational improvement initiatives as directed by COO
  • Assist with preparation, development and review of quarterly Board materials and ad hoc investor relations requests
  • Support strategic initiatives and deal processes including due diligence and tracking and analyzing company performance pertinent to driving operational efficiencies
  • Support the wind down or disposal of the remaining non-core operations
  • Assist with executing commission processes required for the sales partner commission computations
  • Support and respond to internal and external audit requests as needed
  • Assist Supervisor in developing more rigor, review, transparency and reporting around the various sales commissions processes and results
  • Assist with sales partner inquiries and enhancing commission computation transparency to sales partners to proactively address and reduce the number of inquiries
  • Provide input and execute on operational and commission forecasts for budget purposes or on a monthly, quarterly and ad hoc forecasting basis, as needed
  • Identify opportunities to implement, enhance or bolster controls to execute operational and commission processes more effectively
Qualifications:
  • Post-secondary degree/diploma or equivalent experience in industry
  • Must have strong MS Office Skills (Excel, Word, Outlook, Microsoft SQL Server)
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects or tasks with strict deadlines and deliver results

  • Proficiency in Excel, SQL, PPT (Proficiency in Python, VBA, Visio, Salesforce is a plus)
  • Advanced proficiency in data visualization and analytics
  • Use predictive analytics to determine relational parameters between data variables from past occurrences to help predict future outcomes
  • Experience working with large data sets to produce actionable analysis
  • Highly organized, analytical, and detailed oriented personality with a passion for data integrity and accuracy
  • Degree in business (finance or accounting preferred), mathematics, statistics, data science, economics, or engineering; additional certification valued
  • Excellent storytelling capabilities %26ndash; ability to effectively convey complex details based on root cause analysis for varying levels of peers and management
  • Ability to clearly communicate (written and verbal) with different levels of management data-informed findings
  • Positive interpersonal, negotiations and human relations skills
  • A passion for problem solving, critical thinking, resolution management and overall process improvement
  • Thrive in fast-paced, collaborative environment and have managerial courage to work through challenges and drive to put in the extra effort to overcome those challenges
  • Ability to prioritize deliverables and self-direct to accomplish your commitments
