Memorial Medical Center

Responsible for overseeing the daily operation and performance of lab assistant staff in one of the following areas: phlebotomy, specimen processing, and/or outpatient services.

Strong interaction skills with medical center staff, physicians, fellow employees, and patients. Possess a thorough knowledge of laboratory disciplines and tests, specimen processing, computer systems, filing, and customer service expectations. Perform venipuncture and other duties as assigned. Ensure that service provided to patients across the lifespan (including newborns, children, adolescents, adults and generic age groups) is appropriate, compassionate, and timely.

Minimum Education:    High School graduate or equivalent.  

For positions with phlebotomy duties, completion of a formal phlebotomy course or clinical experience in phlebotomy

is preferred.  Completion of a Medical Assistant or Certified Nursing Assistant program is preferred.  

Medical Terminology course or equivalent preferred.  Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.

Minimum Experience:  Four years of clinical laboratory experience in a facility of comparable size and complexity is preferred.  Computer skills a must.  Medical background is preferred.

Certification/Licensure:  Receipt of National Phlebotomy Certification (A.S.P.T, A.S.C.P., N.H.A. or equivalent) preferred.
