The Nuclear Operations Directorate has an immediate opening for a Senior Project Engineer or Leader to support the Sentinel Program (Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) Infrastructure and Deployment and Systems Engineering & Integration functional areas. The position will be located at Hill Air Force Base (AFB), about a 30-minute drive north of Salt Lake City. What You Will Be Doing * Capability to work independently in providing direct communications, integration, and systems engineering expertise to co-located AFNWC/NX staff and leadership on-site at Hill AFB
* Build bridges across a large and diverse customer set to achieve enterprise integration and efficiency with specific emphasis on integration between the Systems Engineering and Integration Division (NXE) and the Infrastructure and Deployment Division (NXD)
* Align requirements definition and traceability in infrastructure designs between NXE and NXD to facilitate a Systems Engineering approach within the design and construction of Sentinel Weapon System infrastructure
* Provide front-line engagement to USAF Sentinel (GBSD) leadership up to and including O-6/GS-15 level
* Coordinate reach-back activities to the Aerospace Engineering Technical Group (ETG) workforce located at Hill AFB and located at other Aerospace locations as required
* Apply systems engineering experience and discipline to the Sentinel program with focus on infrastructure and deployment disciplines
* Provide support to development, evaluation, validation, and traceability of system level requirements to infrastructure designs
* Coordinate tasks and participate in technical interchange and working group meetings along with providing design review support to the AFNWC/NX staff
* Present technical and project status briefings to management and customers
* Provide mission assurance to the program helping assure the Aerospace team is applying expertise to the appropriate aspects of the program
* Prepare technical reports and presentations to disseminate findings, guidance, and technical information
* Build proactive relationships as a liaison for The Aerospace Corporation to Air Force and contractor personnel
* This position requires less than 25% travel What You Need to be Successful Minimum Requirements * Bachelor's degree from an accredited program in a STEM field.
* 12 or more years of increasingly responsible professional engineering/scientific experience, including multi-disciplinary systems engineering and/or program management environments
* 15+ years of industry and/or USAF/DoD experience
* Experience and expertise in a Systems Engineering and Integration disciplines with the ability to apply that expertise to infrastructure and ground systems design and fielding
* Experience/familiarity with Nuclear Surety, System Safety, Nuclear Hardness & Survivability, ICBM Testing, and Concept of Operations for ICBMs * Willing to travel domestically approx. 25%
* This position requires an Active Top-Secret clearance or SCI access and willingness to maintain, which is issued by the US government. U.S citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.
* Current, or ability to obtain, SAP accesses How You Can Stand Out It would be impressive if you have one or more of these: * Masters or Ph.D. degree from an accredited program in STEM field
* Experience with application of Systems Engineering practices and principles in DoD Acquisition Programs
* Experience with infrastructure design and construction supporting DoD Acquisition Programs
* Experience with Nuclear Hardness & Survivability structural and radiation requirements
* Current Top-Secret clearance and willingness to maintain
