POSITION CONCEPT
The Regulatory Accounting Accountant is responsible for regulatory accounting and reporting functions, including, but not limited to: journal entries, account reconciliations, regulatory reporting, budget and forecasting, audit requests, account analysis and special projects as needed.
Advancement in Progression
Advancement to a higher level is based on value added to the Company through increased duties, responsibilities, and accomplishments. Advancement is not automatic, i.e. based solely on time in the job, but will be based on the employee's performance, qualifications, and the technical needs of the department.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
* Prepare journal entries
* Reconcile and maintain general ledger accounts
* Prepare reports filed with regulatory agencies including FERC, EIA and FPSC
* Contribute to department month-end closeout responsibilities
* Prepare account analysis and research account variances
* Contribute to the preparation of budgets and forecasts
* Assist with ad hoc reporting and special projects
* Assist with the preparation of data requests during rate cases and audits
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
Required:
* Bachelor's degree in Accounting from a regionally accredited university or college. Master's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or financial-related field will be accepted in lieu of the Bachelor's Degree in Accounting.
Related Experience
Required:
* No financial work experience is required, but it is preferred
Preferred:
* One or more years of financial work experience with regulated utility accounting experience
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities (KSA)
Required:
* Working knowledge of U.S. GAAP; Working knowledge of Microsoft Office with proficiency in Microsoft Excel; Self-motivated and detail oriented; strong analytical skills; organized
Preferred:
* Knowledge of software/systems such as SAP, Power Plant and Allegro
Job Level 2: ACCOUNTING ANALYST
POSITION CONCEPT
Same as above, with increasing complexity and with a higher level of contribution
