KMPH FOX26/KFRE CW is seeking an Assistant Business Manager to assist with accounting, as well as be responsible for the human resources duties in accordance with company policies and procedures. This position reports to the Business Manager and acts as a business partner to the General Manager of the station and Corporate Regional Human Resources Manager.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist with the management of financial reporting and general accounting functions at the station
  • Ensure that all documentation complies with Sarbanes-Oxley, company regulations, and GAAP reporting guidelines
  • Manage employee and labor relations issues

Accounting functions include:

  • Compile and analyze financial information to prepare entries to general ledger, fixed assets, and financial statements
  • Prepare month-end journal entries, financial statements, forecasts, reports, and variance analyses
  • Collect and analyze asset, liability, and capital financial information
  • Interact with other organizational managers in preparing forecasts and financial information
  • Assist in other daily projects as assigned by the Business Manager, General Manager and Corporate Office

Human Resources functions include: 

  • Collaborate in a team-based environment; providing excellent, friendly and responsive customer service to employees and managers
  • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of our people, our work and our culture
  • Act as a liaison between employees, Regional HR and/or vendors to answer questions about benefits, leave administration, company policy or other related concerns
  • Ensure compliance with employment regulations, including FMLA, FLSA, ADA, and FCC/EEO
  • Maintain a working knowledge and understanding of all HR and payroll related systems, including Oracle Cloud HRIS
  • Conduct new hire orientation and exit interviews
  • Complete paperwork related to hiring, termination and status and benefit changes
  • Prepare and review of payroll process
  • Report/respond to workers’ compensation and unemployment claims
  • Act as a liaison between managers and Regional HR manager on employee relations matters, including disciplinary matters and complaints

Requirements:

  • Associates or bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or equivalent or enrolled towards such degree
  • A minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience in accounting and human resources
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, problem solving and multi-tasking skills
  • Working knowledge of internal control procedures and general ledger
  • Must be results oriented with strong accounting and financial skills
  • Knowledge of CA Employment laws
  • Proficient in Excel and an Oracle background preferred
  • The ability to work in a team environment with various levels of staff
  • The ability to maintain strict confidentiality
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Experience in the broadcast industry is a plus
