Mechanical Designer Primary responsibility of this role is to design and coordinate the work as mechanical designer on capital project teams. Individual shall have technical knowledge in the design, application, and procurement of mechanical and PCE equipment. Individual ensures the Mechanical Work Process Discipline WPD is used on capital projects to provide the design activities necessary for the construction and maintenance of a Smelter plant. Individual will provide technical support to others. Applies knowledge of mechanical equipment and systems, applicable codes and standards to ensure the most effective design in compliance with the company s Safety and Loss Prevention principles, industry standards and local codes and regulations is obtained. Responsibilities: 1. Mechanical design - Applies technical knowledge in the design, application, and procurement of mechanical equipment. Implements the Mechanical Work Process Discipline on capital and maintenance projects to provide the design activities necessary for the construction and maintenance of process plants. 2. Piping design - Applies technical knowledge in the design, application, and procurement of piping systems. Application of a strong working knowledge of piping codes and standards is required to ensure that the most effective design has been selected and that it is in compliance with Dow Safety and Loss Prevention principles, industry standards, and codes. 3. Provide detailed fabrication drawings and installation details using Microstation 2D/3D. 4. Specify, size, and order all materials. 5. Pipe stress analysis using Caesar II. 5. Write material specifications, job instructions and labor bills. 6. Provide project leadership, coordination with other disciplines, and construction support when required. 7. Responsible for meeting project schedules and design team objectives. 8. Demonstrated safety performance. Education:
- Mechanical Design degree or comparable experience
- 5 to 10 years of design experience in the mechanical field associated with EPC projects.
