CB Est Salary: $89K - $160K/Year

The Center Manager of the M.S. Chadha Center for Global India (CGI) of the Princeton Institute for International and Regional Studies (PIIRS) works directly with the CGI Director to implement the Center's strategic plan, overseeing personnel, financials, communications (including the Center's website), events, short-term and yearlong visitors, and education efforts, including programs being designed for implementation in India.

This position offers a unique opportunity to work with a fast-growing center and help develop a broad range of programs and activities focused on global India themes.

Some international travel may be required.



* -Provides administrative support to the CGI Director in developing and implementing the strategic plan and vision for the Center.--Implements the strategic plan by organizing requests for proposals for CGI's education, research, workshop, and visitor programs; facilitates the proposal review process and fund allocation post-review, working with the CGI Director.--Tracks outcomes of CGI activities, communicating with faculty leads, and preparing summaries for communications.--Works with the CGI Director to organize CGI faculty and external advisory meetings, maintains meeting records, and translates decisions to actions, in conjunction with University and PIIRS operating norms and practices.--Offers focused administrative support to faculty and graduate students affiliated with the Center on their Center-related projects.
* -Hires (in cooperation with the PIIRS administration) and supervises CGI personnel, including a half-time program assistant, visitors (6-8 annually), independent contractors, and student workers.--Manages the CGI offices, in cooperation with the PIIRS administration, as needed.--Consults with the PIIRS central office on administrative matters, as needed.--As a member of the PIIRS staff, attends biweekly staff meetings and participates in other PIIRS activities as appropriate.


* -Develops the CGI budget with the Center Director.--Manages all financial business for the CGI to support the Center's extensive research agenda, programming, and curricular initiatives, some of which may be supported by external grants; generates periodic financial reports for the director as required--Oversees routine financials (e.g., purchasing, day-to-day expense reconciliation) to ensure compliance with University policy and procedures and with internal PIIRS practices --Oversees funding and sponsorship for Center, campus, and external initiatives.--In consultation with the CGI Director, manages annual required financial reporting to the University, to PIIRS, to donors, and to external partners.

Events and Communications

* -Develops and implements a strategic communications plan, working with the CGI director and PIIRS communications staff.--Manages the Center's website in cooperation with the PIIRS web developer, to communicate the Center's vision and strategic plan.--Oversees the CGI seminar series, including speaker's travel logistics, publicity, and all event finances.--Develops/writes external communication materials (for social media, the CGI website, the CGI newsletter, and other relevant outlets) to highlight major events and key aspects of CGI research.--Helps develop the annual CGI report, working with CGI Faculty Director.--Oversees a part-time office assistant to assist with these tasks.


* -With the Center Director, facilitates the appointment of annual international and domestic visitors. Specifically, coordinates with PIIRS, the Office of Dean of the Faculty, the Graduate School, and, as needed, with other campus offices (e.g., the Davis International Center) and with the visitors' home institutions to implement required procedures for their appointments. Other duties include but are not limited to advising on visas and other immigration documentation; assisting with travel and housing; and initiating the visitors to the CGI, to PIIRS, and to the Princeton campus. --Works with faculty hosts to facilitate campus visits by visitors throughout the year, advising them on campus and community resources that will ease their stay.

CGI's Education, Research and Workshop Activities

* -Manages the CGI Senior Thesis Award process.--Manages the CGI undergraduate and graduate student CGI grant application process.--Creates a vibrant CGI student-faculty community.--Coordinates implementation of India educational programs, such as the Princeton Start-Up Immersion Program, working with the Keller Center.--Tracks undergraduate and graduate courses offered across campus on global India topics, and develops incentives to engage students in the courses.--Supports implementation of CGI research or educational projects in India.


Essential Qualifications

A viable candidate for this position must:

* have a minimum of 5 years administrative experience, preferably in higher education-have strong interpersonal skills to work cooperatively with a wide variety of campus offices-be detail-oriented, organized, and flexible in a fast-paced environment-exercise good judgment, particularly with confidential information-develop facility with the University financial systems (Prime and Concur) and attend periodic training, as required-have strong computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Office (particularly PowerPoint), Sharepoint, Drupal (for the website), and other programs as needed
* have strong, independent writing and synthesis skills
* have a bachelor's or higher degree

Preferred Qualifications

* Master's degree preferred.-Candidates with proficiency in at least one Indian language and who meet the above requirements will be given priority.
