BAE Systems in Minneapolis MN is seeking a summer intern pursuing a career in the field of Aerospace Guidance, Navigation, and Control Systems Engineering who wishes to gain hands-on experience to complement their technical course work. The qualified candidate will have the opportunity to assist in the design and development of servo control and GNC systems used in defense related applications.

Tasks may include modeling, simulation, design, integration, and test. The intern will work within a team environment, but under the guidance of a mentor to learn about engineering principles and technical development specific to BAE Systems.

This is a paid internship and is for approximately a 3 month period (no relocation offered).

Required Skills and Education

• Enrolled in an accredited 4-year engineering/technical degree program. (Aero, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering preferred) with, at minimum, Junior standing (completed at least 55+ credits)

• Strong communication skills (verbal and written)

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Basic understanding of and skills in feedback control systems, simulation, analysis, and design using Matlab Simulink

• Familiarity with MS Office applications: Outlook, Word, Excel

Preferred Skills and Education

• Coursework in classical and modern control systems, both analog and digital.

• Familiarity with feedback control loops, state machines, and simulation

• Exposure to Computer Languages: C, C++, java, real-time programming

• Experience with Simulation Tools: MATLAB/Simulink

• Minimum GPA of 3.0
